I dunno, Infinite is in a pretty great place at the moment with forge and PVE elements and everything else they have added. I could see them getting a lot of Playstation users trying the game out of curiousity and then sticking with it.
Their hardware literally canât get any worse.
At this point, thereâs more benefits than there are negatives. FH, Halo and Gears are all skewed more to the average console gamer than it is for PC gamers. It only helps those IPâs.
Yeah, I know where youâre coming from. That said⊠it sounds like the first group isnât enough (and is likely at least not growing based on market trends).
It might be because in a multi platform owner, but I think this industry is most interesting when the different platforms are doing different things and leaning into their own specific strengths which is what it sounds like weâre heading towards.
Ultimately as long as I continue to get the sw none of this bothers me that much. If Xbox can go make enough off of porting FH5 to fund another AAA game then thatâs a win for me.
Oh it definitely can get worse. Like shrinking Xbox presents in retail stores which could lead to no Xbox console in retail stores.
Halo may not be of importance but it does have history so porting history to a rival platform does more harm for the brand than good.
Also, Playstation will be making more third party exclusives and that is honestly going to be a bad hand for Xbox with them porting games over. So how to they beat that? Like exclusive are something that draws an audience its need for anything based on entertainment. Like Netflix for example.
forza horizon 5, really going to get our collective panties in a twist over a 3 year old game?
what value does this game even offer to us anymore? itâs yesterdayâs news, great game but yesterdayâs.
Just going to throw it out there -
âPermanent exclusivesâ are fucking dumb and useless to the brand as well as the customer base, how valuable is this game to anyone now really?
how valuable is GOW Ragnarök to the PS userbase now?
the answer is diddly squat out side of sad basement dwellers still living like itâs 1999. nobody is buying an Xbox for FH5 in 2024 just like nobody is buying a PS for GOW in 2024, an addition yes, but not the sole reason. People are buying consoles for this years / next years games, not last or year before.
Itâs why you never see a film stay in the cinema forever, cos itâs not cost effective and the movie makes a decent amount of money being in sub services and home DVD/Bluray.
Hell some movies are unprofitable until they move to these other formats. Does that stop people going to the cinema? No it doesnât, is it a travesty that ruins the experience / defeats the purpose of the cinema cos in 6 - 12 months you can watch it in other ways? No. people are paying extra to be 1st to see it - be part of the moment when itâs new and the talk of the town.
Thatâs already happening outside of North America. Each generation is going to sell less than the previous one. Nothing is going to change that.
Xbox canât leave money on the table for hypotheticals anymore. Thereâs nothing they can do that will suddenly make their hardware sell like it did in the 360 days. They either wishfully hope their hardware starts selling again or be proactive in growing their games.
They are clearly happy with 30+ million a generation as long as they can keep growing in other areas. People are doing backflips for the Steam Deck and that thing is at 5+.
Or like putting money into marketing like being a partner for the Champions League, the biggest international football competition in Europe.
But the ship has probably sailed.
Thatâs a Square Enix IP, not PlayStation. And wasnât FF7 the game thatâs permanent exclusive ?
I donât care, I was just pointing out something else from the thread that spawned this article.
Ah okay. I thought you used this as an example that Sony is bringing their games to Xbox.
Its only a matter of time now until everything releases day and date on the PlayStation. Xbox isnât making enough on the hardware and subscriptions are slowly growing, they are a money hungry division now after all that spending.
yea MS should âwaste moneyâ on that stuff in Europe, has the intelligence of the internet truly gone into the gutter, how can so many not see why it would be such as waste of money.
MS, during the 360 gen tried in Europe and came up short against a factually inferior over-priced console with no games worth a damn and a pointless media format (for the time). That was 2006, Sony has had a dominance in that region for nigh on 20 years at this point, how much money do you think MS would have to spend? Also how much do you really think will be gained from doing so?
Itâs rhetorical by the way, not a lot is the answer. That money is better spent bumping up their PC initiative (that is the biggest gaming market in the region by quite a margin) instead.
Great to see you back after 2 months, they just made 6 billion dollars in the last quarter. Theyâre doing this because theyâve realized it is crazy not to. Itâs an injection of players into a dying GaaS title.
âI just want it to feel like the 360â is one of the biggest problems when discussing Xbox online. People want an industry thatâs long dead.
Makes me think the OEM rumor for the next xbox console might be true. It seems if they donât care about hardware much then it might be better to allow OEMs burden the cost of hardware. Building a gaming PC is expensive, but if they can make something like rog ally in console form. Then that could be intriguing.
Microsoft had a much bigger market share in Europe during 360 because of their exclusive/marketing deals like FIFA, CoD and GTA.
So because Xbox came up short they should do nothing at all ?
As I said the ship has sailed. 2014-2018 were such bad years for Xbox.
And the PC store still sucks. For years weâve heard that they invest into it and at this point we see nothing.
Yeah Xbox OS is probably coming soon. But thatâs Xbox for you. Itâs coming soon
Thereâs a weirdo obsession about exclusives over this crap and over a time over a time. Thatâs long gone bro. Get over it. Iâm only going to come here and say this once. Xbox usually has been the first one to start something and putting old exclusives on another platform. Others are going to follow. If you donât like what theyâre doing, leave like, itâs always been said but with your wallet. But stop dooming and glooming over all this s*** itâs a three to about to be 4-year-old Game
Playground is going to make a lot more money.
