Xbox multi platform discussion

I think Game Pass is their big push now and there’s a chance they’re pushing more consoles into their cloud as every cloud member needs to be a Game pass ultimate holder. They recently just announced Game Pass going to LG TVs, my guess is Roku might be next. I’m sure they’ll have more consoles soon. They’re probably trying to maximize everything to make sure their games can reach hundreds of millions to gain either subs or sales.

They sold through stock over the holidays and haven’t restocked yet. We’ll see if/when it happens.

PhBrazil: ‘‘There’s more games from Microsoft being developed for Switch 2, that I know of, than any other company’’ Rumor - Nintendo | ResetEra

Same in Sweden, lots of places are out of stock. Some have been for a good while too.

Yep, same thing here in Brazil since last year. Nintendo and Sony on the other hand are SUPER agressive in here right now.

MS simply gave up. Same situation in other regions, except North America.

That’s the main reason for me (not the multiplat strategy) to jump ship.

Interesting. I wonder how they’re going to market their handheld if many games are being published on switch 2. I guess a selling point will be gamepass and possible access to xbox library

I think there will be less incentive to be on Xbox ecosystem if that is indeed the case. Cause like, just gamepass?! It feels very shortsighted in my personal opinion, at the very least have Nintendo port stuff to Xbox since they are buddies. That’s my opinion, mutual beneficial outcome for both parties not just one, which is Nintendo in this case.

I don’t think Nintendo is going to port any of their games to any platform. Nintendo is most likely going to keep their games exclusive, so can’t expect them to put their games on other consoles or PC.

Yeah, I guess we’ll see what Microsoft plan is for handheld because it seems it could be a tougher sell if their games are releasing on other platforms

I retract my statement, i forget that many activision and Zenimax games have on Nintendo. I apologies. But i still have the opinion of not do away with everythign cause there’s a need to calm current and future users of the brand if things go out of control, which it might if things go sideways and they focus more on porting than delivering games to their ecosystem userbase this year and the next. Like Jesus, the amount of multiplat stuff they drew out over last years can be seen as bad messaging towards ecosystem users no matter how much money they generated, cause i know that if they don’t calm those folks down in the future then it can and will backfire, cause no amount of money gained now is gonna help them gain trust back from its own userbase once next gen hits and they nothing to show for it and that justs bad for them.

I cannot be the only one who is corncen about this possibility no? Like shortsightedness is only looking at data to determine the future instead of looking at stuff in the present aswell…

We’re taking rumours from ResetEra seriously now?

Surely it’s just because they still sell pretty well in the U.K.

They’d be mad to give up pushing the console in the U.K… but they’ve gave up marketing it over here so what do I know

That’s something they will need to address sometime soon, since next gen in just around the corner They should not screw with current users in favor of others, that’s how you destroy trust among current ones and that’s not a good thing to ignore no matter how people may perceive it as.

Nintendo Switch is mighty tempting if Xbox does some really screwed up things but am not holding anything until the picture is clearer. I want to believe they won’t screw current users and i still believe they won’t but it is demoralizing without anything to really go by that is not related to Gamepass or This is an Xbox stuff in recent months.

Just my two cents, don’t wanna dive into this again if i can really help it. I just had to block many, and i mean many, people i liked in the community who are just being overall negative towards Xbox without anything to actually bring to the table and that ruins my mood considerably.

They’re giving you a bajillion games in Game Pass, that’s their answer. They’ll have shown new hardware and you can determine things then.

Hopefully it turns out good, but i kinda wanna see what they bring towards current users that may not be on gamepass hype train. I mean other forms of incentive that are not just gamepass related is what i mean, play anywhere is awesome and should be more utilized as i think is far more important than some make it out to be.

Huh, way to go the original route huh? That series is not shaped for that kind of stuff no matter who says it is.

Game Pass brings you games with the best value and offers discount and in hardware they always offer the best features regardless of whether the media lauds it as such. They are a business we are customers let them do what’s best for their business and as customers will do the same. I would much rather prefer to pay a small fee to play great games than have to buy them all. Besides this we have yet to see this unification of their console, PC and Mobile in one OS, I’m of the opinion it would be quite something to behold much better than most. As for the handheld I think there is still a lot of innovations they can bring to differentiate their handheld.

The way I see thing gaming is moving to similar format with movies, music and other entertainment where hardware and content stand alone. You don’t buy TVs based on content but more so on features same with a Blu-ray or DVD player. The exclusive thing is not growing the industry and having just 3 control things limits innovation especially when one is still in the stone age and the other just lacks vision and direction being stuck in limbo. If things are the way envisioned all you will need NextGen is one hardware that plays everything or almost everything which is a better way. It’d be much better if you could play every game available on an OS through streaming or any device. In any case I think Xbox is aware of all this question as they’ve been raised by many.

It might have been going the MMO route, certainly seems like it could have worked to me. Probably too expensive to maintain the visuals and maybe performance just could not hold.

Xbox are in prime position to make tons off of their multiplat software - Switch 2 will need games for people to play on their shiny new hardware and Playstation were too busy chasing GAAS dream money, leaving the system in need of games that MS can give them

You mean besides sponsoring the FA/football, Wembley, that pro darts player and whatever else?

Yes, they’ve clearly given up.
