Maybe one needs just to be a console gamer to understand where I’m coming from. I do not mean that in an insulting manner either
I’m a console gamer, and primary Xbox gamer, I have no idea what you’re on about more than half the time. Just hyperbole and I’m sick of newer posters speaking for the rest of us in the same boat.
Shit changes. Like others have said, I have the other consoles and I know how little I end up paying for far more games on Xbox and at the end of the day, especially in this point in time, all I care about is that singular point.
And I’d recommend people do. Judging news by a Jason Schreier twitter post is not a great way to go.
for example he states “… handheld but it’s years away” which to most would imply long term whereas the actual quote is “a few years” implying short term.
Even the most interesting part that most articles missed out we’ve heard before which was about expanding market share via other markets because "We’re not going to grow the market with $1,000 consoles. "
Preparing us for a price shock next gen or unsubtle dig at PS5 Pro?
Personally I’m getting to the point where I hope the bespoke (console) hardware disappears.
For years I’ve invested in Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony (and Sega) plastic boxes, only for them to become outdated and disposed of.
Many of my favourite games are stuck on old plastic boxes where I can no longer access them, unless I emulate them on PC.
I would just rather have all my games on PC so they are in one place and they can continue to thrive even as PC hardware evolves.
Or better yet, and app on my TV when the streaming quality is up to par.
EDIT: Plus the games look better and have mods on PC.
I’ve been with Xbox since the Pal release in 2002 and part of Xbox LIVE for over 22 years and have that badge on display on my Xbox profile.
So please, drops for insults and just because I found this site late does not mean I haven’t been a Xbox fan for decades.
Xbox name for me started was born from the console and that what’s Xbox represents for me. I have no interest in PC gaming setups, but don’t look to discredit them.
I only game on consoles and for since 2002 that’s been Xbox and it disappoints me to see people say Xbox should call it a day and just go 3rd party and leave the hardware side.
And before people say the PC, I can’t remember the last desktop PC hardware Microsoft manufactured and sold as its own brand.
Literally no one is saying what you’re implying here and again, you’re disregarding every bit of pushback from others in your exact position because all you want to do is complain.
I‘m disappointed by the handheld news. Have been looking into the Steam Deck for months now but wanted to wait for news from Xbox. This might push me into getting the Deck.
As for no red lines, yes the essence of the comment isn‘t new, but I don‘t get why it has to be stated every few months in public. With their lineup these next 12 months, let the games do the talking and get people excited about Xbox again. You don’t see Sony executives giving interviews about the lackluster 2024 first-party lineup or Concord. Xbox is too much in the talking and not always for the right reasons. The enthusiasm is what‘s missing right now - unless a PS5 Indy port gets announced at Gamescom. I think they have the games to change that, but just let them be front and center.
This is the first time they’ve ever stated it. Before it was a report from Jez.
It‘s the same message in different forms and intonations, that‘s what I meant.
I can’t help I found this nice site late and please don’t insult me with a newer poster nonsense either
I don’t say it to act hard or be better than anyone else here. I’ve only gamed on Xbox consoles since 2002 and find it a little disheartening to see many here, happy with Xbox calling it a day.
They are not calling it a day though are they?
They are committed to a new Xbox, new hand-held and they are creating app support on TV’s which provide the same console-like experience for people which can’t afford the hardware.
Plus they’ve updated the PC UI to be more console like.
If anything they are more committed.
No talk of a new console system, just no red lines and how an HH is a few years away. Hardly inspiring talk for Xbox console hardware IMO
They have already repeatedly commented about working on new hardware, and in this story is talk about prototyping handhelds. Please actually know what the story is before making verifiably false statements like this.
Xbox says lots of stuff and it never transpires. The only good news from the HH talk is how it looks like the talk of a new Xbox console with a linked HH is true

Words mate.
This is the same Xbox that said how they’ve learnt lessons from studio closers, only to close Tango and the less said about Indy the better
I haven’t seen anyone ‘happy’ that Xbox is as you put it “calling it a day”. What I have seen is people accepting the reality that the video games industry is changing and every company, including Sony and Nintendo are looking to grow their businesses.
I would have never thought in a million years that Sony, the very company that was humiliated on stage at CES '91 by Nintendo, would release a game based on their own IP day one on Switch. And yet, here we are.
Nice points. When do you think we’ll see SONY in-house games coming out on Xbox ?
I expect LEGO: Horizon Adventures to come to Xbox.
Also, seeing lots of attitude with your posting here. I’m all for differing opinions, but try not to be a dick please. (You won’t last long otherwise)
Last time I checked San Diego Studio was a first party studio, so is Bungie. Both have and will continue to make games for Xbox.
