Well Grounded did 15 million in a couple of years. IMO Starfield idsat least 4 times the IP GROUNDED is. So i would guess 40m players in first 12 months (25m first month) and 60m players first 2.5 years.
After that…whats it matter?

The only BGS game to hit 60 million is Skyrim. I highly doubt Starfield will get that high.
30 million lifetime is more realistic.
Fallout 4 did 12 million in a day. Starfield will easily surpass 30 million.
The way I see Xbox marketing might be handled by Activision Blizzard. Good thing they have their own animation and CGI studio.
I think people are sleeping on the potential of a Xbox Smart TV app. The rollout has been very limited. Once the Xbox app is on everything (not named PlayStation/Nintendo) then you will have crazy numbers. Hook them with a free month.
Maybe Starfield is the game that ‘breaks’.
Xbox hasn’t been building a cloud infrastructure for nothing.
I get all that and I expect Starfield to do very well, but 60 million is insane to expect for any game, no matter the pedigree or circumstances. Even Mario Kart 8 BARELY did 60 million and that’s Nintendo’s best selling game. So few games can get anywhere close to that.
I would agree sales wise those numbers are not happening but perhaps they could get engagement numbers in that range but that will mean they will need cloud to do the heavy lifting. Maybe Nvidia’s cloud could help as well.

I have been wondering for a long time now, what happened to the Series X? It seems like Xbox only advertises the Series S, which is strange considering Series X is the more popular system, in their online ads and hell even some stores I’ve walked into in the last 6-8 months all I’ve seen is Series S all over the Xbox sections… it’s bizarre to me, are they having such a tough time manufacturing them or something? Sony seems to have sorted out the PS5 stock issues.
You said it yourself… No need to push the more popular system, Series X. It sells itself. You market the system that needs a bit of help in selling and the one that’s more readily available.
MS should be pushing both IMO. MS PR is almost as bad as SEGA’s Europe’s inthe 32-bit and DC days. Its a utter joke and simply not good enough. In the Uk we’re getting a nice slick and expesive TV ad from SONY for the PSV and we get nothing from Team XBox.
That’s right but Series X has really disappeared from the radar.
It be nice to see Team Xbox push the Series X against the PSV. We might then have more developers looking to lead on the Series X instead of the PSV and no more PSV fans having fun at Series X expense
I don’t think it works that way, Series X has literally disappeared from the public it seems, in my anecdotal evidence I only see Series S in stores, Microsoft should give us an update on when they expect Series X stock will be readily available at the least, one way to create hype for it? tell the world they will have millions of Series X consoles available for Starfield’s launch.
You guys are not wrong. I think Xbox Series X needs a relaunch at this point.
The good news about a relaunch though is that it’s a simple path forward… 2tb hard drive
2023 can be the year of Xbox having, biggest hard drive, most powerful hardware, best value with Gamepass, biggest exclusive with Starfield.
Also what’s up with the slow launch of Xbox smart tv app? That needs to be ready on on every device not named PlayStation this year. September needs a wide launch of the smart tv Xbox app.
Yeah, 3 years after the launch of the Xbox One we got the Xbox One S, doubt we’ll the equivalent to that this time around but they can always do a mini relaunch if they actually have the stock, 2TB model would be great, Starfield bundles etc.
Anyway, I really hope that by the time Starfield comes out that they are able to manufacture Series X stock in big quantities, if not then the problem is far deeper than we think.
Tweets like this don’t inspire me with confidence that they’ll get it sorted it out soon enough though.
It doesn’t need a bigger HardDrive IMO. It just needs to be promoted far more and it’s high time MS started to show off its power advantage . I’m sadly thinking MS isn’t bother going to push the Series X untill Starfield is ready to launch
Lots of time until September.
That’s Team XBox marketing strategy in a nutshell. It be better in the ‘future’
