Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

That screenshot is from DS1

The ones in the actual article are not

They certainly weren’t sitting there twiddling their thumbs either haha. According to the job listing the person was the lead game designer so that’s a decent role to be there early on and shortly after was promoted to chief desinger for 3 years.

It was always Fable and it being in development since around 2017 is old news.

Oh ok

Not really sure of that, it seemed like Playground were playing around with open world RPG ideas (even possibly were gonna pitch to other publishers) but Xbox offered them the Fable IP.

Yeah but I just assume that it wasn’t active development since 2017 and was more groundwork pitching and concepting like I said.

Assuming Fable releases in 2024, 7 years isn’t long whatsoever

In that time they had to not only hire 100s more employees but find people that weren’t just familiar with racing games, completely rework their engine to support something other than racing games, work through a pandemic and more

Horizon: ZD took 7 years and that was without a pandemic to deal with

2017 is the Year they formed the second team, Phil gave it to them after Forza Horizon 3 was a massive success. From what I understand they’ve been concepting Fable since FH3 shipped.

With the news that they are now bringing in a support studio and how this is their first non racing game, I’m expecting holiday 2025 at the earliest.

Exciting for those who still play it. I loved my time with it but it felt like too much of a chore. I wanted to complete all the big races but fell off nothing felt like it mattered (too much reward to easily)

Awesome can’t wait, still thinking is Jurassic World.

For sure. It would be a great way to get new updates for new games or updates for games that are already out such as Sea of Thieves, Grounded, or Fallout 76 or even additional information without taking up the main showcase at E3. As well as get updates for Redfall, Starfield, Forza Motorsport, etc on a monthly basis.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing third party/indie games that aren’t only gamepass games showcased in a Inside Xbox showcase since I feel like third party games or indie games outside of gamepass don’t get enough publicity or recognition.

You should at least try the Hot Wheels DLC, if you haven’t yet - Decent length and the progression system may align more to what you want imo.

Was it free DLC with gamepass or was it paid extras?

It was $20 if you pay separately, but you can also get it as part of the Premium add-on bundle.

Ahhh. If it was included I would give it a try. Maybe if it goes on sale for like $5-$10

MS may add DLC to the Ultimate tier of Gamepass or a new tier but don’t expect them to stop selling DLC for their first party games.

Exactly. It’s an additional revenue stream.

I don’t expect them to, I just know there has often been free DLC for some games. I’ve never really been a big DLC person. Some games I just wait till the complete edition.
