I agree with what others have said, lets not turn this thread into a teardown of TLOU P1.
If you want to talk about remasters and remakes, keep it within the Xbox Game Studios realm.

wow so beautiful
I mean you just have to give access to the engine to everyone so that the real Fans can even redo the games and offer them for free to the community I will not be surprised to see Skyrim Remade on Creation Engine 2 in a few years
Create a platform of mods for Fable / Avowed / Perfect Dark / Halo… and give access to the engines to the fans they will take -10 years to redo the games and offer them for free or even create new games.
Which Gears games are not on PC yet? And they haven’t ported even Halo 5 to PC right?
They are doing us a favor by not porting it to pc.
I think 2, 3, and Judgement. 1 is only there because of the remake.
Holy shit!!! Green post!! Congratulations on now being a moderator.
Then I guess they should port Gears Collection then at least. I wonder why they haven’t done that yet.
That’s what the rumored remaster collection is
no bein serious. no one want’s to play those games on pc, minus a few xbox fans and a lot of playstation fans.
I think Klob is wrong here since the comparison doesn’t hold. The Xbox games he listed has not been remastered allready. Problem with the game-that-shall-not-be-named is that it’s the second remaster and a full $70 cash grab at that. Not the same thing.
Also a lot of the Xbox IP titles have already gotten free current-gen updates or free Xbox One X updates and some of the X360 titles have free Resolution and Filtering Boosts and a few have free FPS Boosts. Some of the titles have dynamic scalable engines so they already became better on Series consoles.
While it would be nice to have genuine remakes, I’d rather they move on to the next part of the story in the series.
About the only series I’d love to see be remade is having all the previous Forza Horizon content available within the Forza Horizon 5 engine. Even then, that’s only if it doesn’t require a full year of development where I’m fairly certain it would be multi-year effort of a large team.
Yes, that’s another good point. The free updates we almost take for granted is a big thing for a lot of older Xbox titles.
I think it makes sense to have a remaster during dry periods. Or something like a Gears remaster before Gears 6.
Regardless of any price or value.
No matter how pretty it looks, if it’s the same game, I don’t want it. A remake, like Resident Evil 2, of course I’d want that, but a glorified remaster, especially by a main team and for a relatively new/modern game, hell no, I think a lot of people were pretty open here about their dislike for the idea of a Gears remaster collection, especially if it’s by the Coalition themselves.
Creatively bankrupt endeavors shouldn’t be encouraged.
Like they can spawn a remaster at will to come out when it’s dry? A remaster is still a project subjet to delays.
A remaster or a remake is a relatively small project and can be handled by a smaller side team or outsourced to an external team - all in all they can be done without a huge impact to internal development and so are “safe” additions to the schedule which right now coulda been pretty useful if they’d had a few in the works. Ideally Xbox will reach the point of regular content releases where they can start doing what Nintendo does and start holding back games to release on a planned schedule and move them around as needed to handle delays - and having a few remakes or remasters in the wings could help that and could help prevent any future dry spells.
I half think some remasters might be useful for Call of Duty in the future - if they were to switch to a bi-annual release schedule they could “pad” out the gap years with a campaign remaster or a side game while continuing to support the mainline entry with an additional year of multiplayer content. They do have multiple studios within Activision having already handled CoD campaign remasters and allegedly just have Modern Warfare 3 sitting waiting for a rainy day.
Its more nuanced than what Klobrille is saying, any work spent on remakes will delay the launch of new titles. There is a finite set of resources. I don’t think anyone wants to wait at least 2 more years for a new title just to have a remake.
Maybe I would change my tune if my favorite games were NOT backwards compatible. Fortunately the X360 is BC with enhancements and improvements already. So that itch is scratched.
It would be different matter if Xbox was like Platform X that wasnt compatible with any games from that era. Glad that’s not the situation we’re in.
