Pentiment GOTY.
Oh, totally forgot about it.
I don’t necessarily agree with Klob here. It’s true graphic wise, it seems to be beautiful, but beyond that there isn’t much, neither from an AI or a gameplay standpoint. The multiplayer is missing and the price too high. I would have prefered for them to invest all that money into another project.
For the second tweet, there is a lot of remake MS could do, that’s for sure.
Agreed, not with the price but with the remakes.
If it doesn’t harm the main studio’s pipelines, then I’m all for remakes. There’s always a new generation of gamers that have missed out on the old classics.
And no, backwards capability isn’t moving the needle for new gamers, not like a full fledge remake can do.
First time disagreeing with Klobrille, sure, it would be great to have those Microsoft Ip’s remade for the new hardware, but at that price ($70)…Hell No!!! I won’t pay that kind of money for an old game, don’t care how stunning looks, it’s the same old game.
But we wouldn’t have to worry about that lol, we have gamepass.
I would rather Xbox focusses on new experiences or straight up reboots franchises like they are doing with Fable.
A proper remake would be way too much effort for seemingly diminishing returns.
Sure and I’ve love game-pass, but I’m a video game collector, so I try to buy the physical games and it would be hard to pay $60 or $70 bucks for an old game.
Maybe there isn’t that much to the remake but there are a lot of people who haven’t played the Last of Us since it came out so that’s about 8 years so I wouldn’t say that it’s a bad decision for Naughty Dog to remake the game.
And I agree it would be great to see a lot of classic games be remade or come back in some form.
I would have agreed if it was not the third rerelease of the game. Full price (actually even more expensive than the original PS3 release) and without multiplayer.
It’s mainly for the new generation of gamers that will be interested in the IP once the TLOU show comes out.
I can see Bethesda doing one for the Fallout show tbh. I’d be shocked if they didn’t.
It’s a remake of a remaster of a game that came out less than a decade ago and is like 80 euros that barely changed the gameplay
It’s fine to want Xbox to remake some of their games but im not gonna use TLOU as some kind of benchmark of good remakes
Hell it has even less content than the original
I think there is less of a case now for Remakes due to the availability of older games online. There is nothing stopping someone that wants to try tlou from buying it on psn.
Where the case used to be if you couldnt find it second hand you wouldn’t be able to play it. Hence remakes
Hard disagree on the remake part on this from me. Klobrille’s plan would tie up Rare, Bethesda, Obsidian and countless more devs with putting lipstick on old games. I can already play these games, lots of them even in higher framerates or 4k. No need to hold up development of new IPs and games for years for this shit.
Where is the end of this? What if TloU Part 3 comes out in 2030 and makes TloU Part 2 and TloU Part 1 Remake look outdated? ND has to remake them again, this time both for 100$ each? Wtf!
I’m all for it, as long as they farm them out to external studios that aren’t capable of doing new games. Like some kind of support studio.
I agree. I think the price is a little to high but I do like the idea of remaking games to make them more modern and in an upgraded engine. And exactly it’s great to have a lot of backwards compatible games but there’s a lot of games that don’t hold up graphically for me to have an interest in playing. But having a reboot on an upgraded engine could draw interest.
Same I probably wouldn’t pay 70$ for it unless it’s my first time playing it. Maybe $50-$60 since it is a beautiful game but for a remaster I think it is priced a bit too high.
I think it depends on the game. I think a lot of of the older Bethesda games would be worth making a remake for and even some of the classic original Xbox games would be worth getting a remake for especially if they added achievements.
Games like Ryse, Crackdown, or ReCore don’t necessarily need a remake but I wouldn’t mind seeing a reboot or sequel to them.
I agree. But I would say it’s more worth it for people who bought the original version or it’s their first time buying The Last Of Us rather than those who bought the rerelease.
Exactly. I think that’s the main point of it.
Yeah I don’t think TLOU remake is exactly the example I think Microsoft should go for for games that came out recently and still hold up I just think it would be nice to see more remakes or remasters of some of the classic Xbox games.
True for recent games but there are a ton of games that could deserve a remake or a reboot with improved graphics and a better engine.
Im waiting for the day Xbox make Viva Piñata a live service(ish) game. I think it would be pretty easy, new piñatas, new villains, new worlds/locations, new evolutions, candy etc.
Plus (this is a big one) it would be perfect for mobile as a cyperpet style game where you look after your garden/piñatas. Just think of it with touch controls for mobile users. Would also hit the children/family market.
Wouldn’t need a massive team either, look at the grounded team at obsidian.
Microsoft should ensure all legacy games in popular series are available on gamepass. Owning Elder Scrolls and Quake…gamers will want to know where those IP came from so Xbox should make efforts to get those games on there somehow. That might require some porting. Some remastering.
LoU PT 1 ia essentially some PT 2 asset flipping. Its like the Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 5. Only $70.
