Something we don’t really think about with these new studio buyouts is stuff like this audio stuff. All the Xbox teams are gonna be able to use all these sound bytes and it’ll create efficient work. No need to have multiple teams go out there and record the sound of AK47s if you get one team to do it they all can use it.

I doubt they will, as sound design is never the same between games, not even games in the same series.

If they do even the same quality work they did with MW2019, it’s going to sound fricken stellar

This is something that I’ve noticed about Epic - they have a whole infrastructure built around supporting fortnite and have all these companies they’ve acquired that fill really specific roles contributing towards that. It’s not even your typical game dev stuff I think I saw they had a company focused on market research for a younger audience and all that sort of stuff.

Microsoft was clear that acquisition season isn’t over… nearly a month ago. They don’t make declarations to the SEC without reason.

FTR: I don’t think acquisition season is over for anyone for the foreseeable future, especially if the recession hits as hard as it’s being suggested.

I don’t mean like rip it directly from the game I mean like the raw sound, if someone needs a soundbyte of an AK47 in an open field and Infinity Ward has a high quality clip they could send that over. I don’t work in game dev so I don’t know how things exactly work, just thinking that would be a cool thing if they can do that.

I agree. I cannot wait until the full release of Grounded.

Yes, the previews seem very positive reminiscent of Pikmin or Overlord

I agree with this except for the part where Josh takes the lead on NV2. I think that he is done with a game of that scope for good as the head honcho.

He outright said in an interview that he’s done with AAA directing. His next game is like Pentiment. Small team, pre determined character.

What I heard him say before was that he wanted a “break,” from AAA

I think the main issue is going to be if they wanted to use customize equipment that would alter the sound of the AK47 and they didn’t have a way to produce the same results digitally. In that situation I think that just using the sound no matter how high-quality won’t give them the same results than recording their own.

But yeah, using it if they’re not trying to create their own distinct sound could be useful.

I think cross-studio collaboration is more in the form of technology, tools, and expertise than sharing game assets straight up lol
