Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

playing xbox 1st party games on smartphones or even smart fridges is a quite a myth to most peeps. even the bloomberg journo. device=! console.

Some cool insights here, game doesnt seem possible without Game Pass.

Good Josh Sawyer interview. Mentions that there are multiple murders to solve and no confirmation on right or wrong answers.

Just watched this too, yeah it sounds really good. It definitely seems like the kind of game where a trailer doesn’t do it justice at all, like As dusk Falls too, although I still have to play that yet. I can seen this game having a very good story and dialogs, it needs to be played and I for sure will.

I guess the deal is closing soon.

Why? He wants less exclusives [on PlayStation] … Shouldn’t everyone?

Thats how I imagine the statement with the unsaid portion called out.

I mean from a developer point of view it is obvious that Microsoft will develop only one version ( XBOX / PC ) under Direct X 12 Ultimate, developers will only develop on XBOX ecosystem to focus on one version and do more beautiful games and more ambitious. Phil Spencer talks about the console as a piece of plastic because concretely with the Cloud we don’t even need it anymore. XBOX games, Bethesda, Activision Blizzard and beyond… will be exclusive to the XBOX ecosystem, however Phil Spencer has been trying for years to push Sony and Nintendo to accept XBOX Gamepass on Playstation and Switch. That’s what he’s talking about when he wants to bring more exclusive games to the XBOX console ecosystem. And he doesn’t say he will, he says he wants to bring more games but that will depend on the decision of Sony and Nintendo. It’s more of a wish than a statement.

Destin has a video about it now

If Pentiment is based on a real history, they can try promoting game at schools for some history classes. Like it happens with Age of Empires.

Bloomberg interview now makes sense. Phil is worried people will end up with the wrong plastic box under their TVs at home because grandmothers cannot for the love of God buy little Timmy the right gaming console for Christmas as it’s already hard enough to differentiate an Xbox One X to an Xbox Series X, let alone a Series S to an PS5, their both white consoles for God’s sake!

With MS buying COD and making it exclusive, the PlayStation brand will die, making it so that nothing but Xboxes are sold in stores.

As usual, good guy Phil is making the more consumer friendly moves!

No, I definitely agree with you here. If we go by what Todd said right before E3 the game is very far along and they are putting the finishing touches on it. So if all goes well, no unexpected problems arise…it really should be doable.

Bugs are going to happen anyway, whether they delay it further or not, that’s just how their games have always been and with game worlds that big and that engine, it’s just how it is. But who knows, everything about this game and TES VI has been super unusual compared to their other games. The announcement, the marketing, the delay.

With all these delays this year in mind I’m just taking the “worst case scenario” approach. Fully taking into account it can easily slip further.

Soounds like at some point sdestin is expecting xbox to go full third party. he even said it. Always been my worry. again why buy a xbox if all xbox games come to playstation? even if you can only play them though gamepass on playstation. Will it happen? who knows but I can see it to. I hope it doesn’t this is the problem with xbox messaging. They say they want more first party stuff then say things like exclusives are going away. with ps and nintendo they are pretty clear on what they are gonna do

I don’t take anything the suits (well, t-shirts in Spencer’s case) says seriously whilst the ABK deal is pending.

The way I very much interpreted it was that console exclusives solely would disappear, i.e, you’ll see more PC, Mobile and Cloud releases. We already know with Xbox that most if not all games go to Xbox, PC and Cloud, and that PS I think will start to do PS and PC, which means the only one that will continue to do only Switch games.

Nah, you should relax. Maybe before Xbox Series it was on the cards, but I don’t see it happening anymore with all the moves Microsoft is making.

I don’t know what’s difficult to understand. As we already see now, console exclusives are becoming a thing of the past, because more and more devices are being targeted as well, being through the Cloud or PC. Even Playstation is slowly turning into that direction with more focus on PC. Things are moving and not solely dependant on owning a console.

True, but I think people are fearing that MS may be the one to release Xbox games on PS, and sure enough if Sony were to allow GP on PS5 that would happen. But this is something I do not see happening any time soon. If it was up to me I’d have all PS games on Xbox and vice versa. But I don’t see Sony doing this, not soon anyway.

I don’t see Xbox games releasing as hard copies or digitally on PS either. Game Pass or bust.

If xbox ever did go full third party it wont be for a long time yet and by the time it does happen I feel subscriptions will pretty much be dominating everything in a the console space so people wont care as much about actual consoles as much, it will be subscription wars over console wars

But anyway, Phil’s words, if you want to actually take them as meaning anything are in regards to crossplay and therefore, multiplayer games something we already know they are keen to keep multiplat, at least in regards to ABK

People expecting this to mean things like ES6 will suddenly be multiplatform should think otherwise
