I wish he would be more clear with stuff. We always have to assume things with him
Na… He is definitely talking any kind of access point. He just want everyone to play together.
At least now they’re in a strong position to delay a game out of the first six months without there being a complaint towards a lack of content. I kinda hope we reach a point with Xbox where they can start doing what Nintendo does and start holding games back for a more balanced schedule - and to leave room to swap things around for delays when necessary.
Xcloud should be able to run on any browser, meaning if Sony ever gives PS5 access to its browser friends would be able to play Xbox Exclusives together regardless of device.
I still think its Q4 2023 and avowed in 2024 sucks but it is what it is
I agree. With Halo Infinite, they deliberately left it vague and just said “2021” which ended up being more than a year’s delay. With Starfield and Redfall, they very clearly said “first half of 2023” and then doubled down on that during the showcase.
I still believe that if Bethesda hadn’t been acquired, then Starfield would have hit 11.11.22 come hell or high water. The game has been fully playable for more than a year now, so I reckon they just needed a few more months to polish it up and get all the systems working and feeling good.
Edit: I think Avowed will be early 2024 regardless of where Starfield lands.
I know that I’m in the minority opinion here, but IMO it’s better for Starfield to come out in the first half of 2023 with slightly less polish rather than it being delayed to late 2023. Going almost two years without a tier 1 first party title is a worse look than it being somewhat buggy and maybe not as pretty for some folks.
Never was.
Even if Starfield did get delayed to second half of 2023 (I don’t think it will), we’d still have Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends and Diablo 4. It would be very unlikely that all of them slip out of that window.
Xbox will still sell with or without further Starfield delay. Starfield is one of the biggest games for Xbox but Xbox is not in the position where it would die without it.
Nah
Assuming everything else releases on time in first half 2023, there will still be an insane amount of big releases on xbox/gp for people to play
People would be annoyed about waiting an extra 6 months or whatever but they’d get over it quickly with all those other games to play and it results in a better product
This wouldn’t be like this year where there was basically nothing other than smaller scale things
I’d disagree with this - I think Microsoft has a strong first half of 2023 regardless of Starfield and I think if there is any studio that needs to nail the landing on a game right now it’s Bethesda after the buggy launch state of Fallout 76.
Even if Starfield was a buggy mess, it being singleplayer will automatically give it a leg up over 76 in the eyes of players and the industry.
I don’t think Starfield will be a buggy mess, for the record.
If only Sony thought the same thing, but they really don’t, not at all. They do all they can to even lock shit up that isn’t theirs. Stick with “Game Pass exclusive”, we all know Sony won’t ever allow it on their system and there is NO reason whatsoever to play the good guy and have these games release on competing platforms.
This kind of stuff is going to give Tubers and media a field day again, with stupid shit like “won’t TES VI be exclusive after all.” because of these things said. We can only assume it’s about Cloud.
The only on platforms that support Game Pass thing is fine as it is. Really hope it just stays that way.
He’s talking about locking to one DEVICE, not platform - MS has already been doing that with games releasing to Xbox, PC, and Cloud
Microsoft showed time and time again that they all in on exclusivity, yet people still think that Microsoft is going multiplat
As always - I blame Mojang.
Minecraft (and likely Call of Duty) are exceptions to the rule. Starfield and Redfall pretty clearly showed Xbox’s intentions, as well as stuff like Hellblade 2 and The Outer Worlds 2.
Aside COD being like literally so many different games, I still think that Minecraft Dungeons on Game Pass and Minecraft Legends on Game Pass would be enough without other platforms (maybe Nintendo). Sales of Minecraft Dungeons clearly showed that despite being huge, Dungeons did not reach the sales of any Nintendo exclusive game.
It’s always Mojang.
I am sure they are planning to release the Starfield in the March
Elden Ring was a huge hit that time
