Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

Honestly, if Grounded blows up in a Sea of Thieves or Hades-like way (probably not as big as those but you get my point) and Pentiment gets GOTY awards, that will create a lot of goodwill around Xbox going into Redfall, Forza and Starfield.

That doesn’t change the fact that Sony went 9 months without a major release between Ratchet and Horizon.

It probably won’t due to art style. But Josh Sawyer is behind the game so it might get some brownie points due to that. Stray will 100% get a lot of awards.

Hm…Wasn’t Returnal there? They also released some Director’s Cut of the games (ghost and death stranding). Though arguably it is comparable to Hot Wheels DLC.

Returnal was before Ratchet in April, and I personally don’t count Director’s Cuts. If we don’t count updates and DLC for Xbox games, then we shouldn’t count Director’s Cuts for PlayStation games.

I’ll keep saying it, Sony’s handful of beloved exclusive 3rd party games are still a “free pass” for basically everything that goes awry for them. “It doesn’t matter, GoW will be great”

Only problem with this is that there’s massive open world game like AC, Far Cry, Horizon, Ghost Recon Wildlands, RDR 2, etc. that look amazing. Also, if it’s planet based and there’s a loading screen between going in and out of planets, I don’t see why the game doesn’t look better and just loads in the respective planet before entering that planet.

In all honesty, coming into this generation with the most powerful console ever released, I simply expected more and thus far, Microsoft hasn’t delivered for me on the visual front.

Agreed. The no blood part is the biggest surprise because doesn’t Fallout 4 and 76 have blood? The technical issues don’t surprise me at all. My guess is that they haven’t implemented a lot of shit yet and including the technical issues is why they delayed the game.

I agree with the freedom part but the scope and scale, not so much. I don’t need a game to give a 1000+ planets. That’s fucking overkill. And I don’t care if it would be unfair to other games. That’s their problem. I want my game to look excellent and wow me. Just haven’t gotten that yet.

Sony delayed Returnal a month. Horizon/GT 7 6 months and GOWR a year. But when you look at HFW/GOWR, the delay was disappointing but visually, both look superb which lessens the disappointment of the delays.

I look at it this way, a game getting delayed is disappointing but if it also looks visually underwhelming and has technical issues, well, there’s three disappointments right there. If out of the three, the only disappointment is a delay, then they’re already 2/3rd of the way there and if I had to choose, I would take a delay over underwhelming visuals and technical issues.

I would think that everyone would choose the same.

That’s exactly it. Xbox just started their production only a couple years ago while sony had a running pipe line for much longer. That’s on Xbox, of course. They screwed up in the 2010’s on the 1st party front BUT they are heavily correcting it so that’s good.

But that simply is the reason why Xbox was hit harder by covid. They realistically couldn’t have a fall back or plan B at that point in time.

Are we seriously counting paid upgrades as new releases?

Did anyone submit their email address for the Dark Tide tech test? It says you should receive an email with further information as soon as you submit your email address, but I never received an email by them.

You?

yes, you should almost immediately get a survey email; check your junk folder

Checked it, nothing.

I’ll try the email address from my ISP, see if that makes any difference. I was using my hotmail address.

Yep, that did it.

There is no other games like a Bethesda game in which you can interact with almost everything on your sight.

Sitting on random bench in a ruin ? Picking up a random bucket and drop it on an NPC ? Drop all your 10k arrows on the floor which you an pick up again ?

Starfield doesn’t even have to look amazing on launch date if you have the modding community. Skyrim looks amazing with the right mods on Xbox. That’s without SKSE which is the biggest game changer for PC.

This, not even R* can do what BGS do

That’s not to say R* are trying to or don’t have their own strengths but only looking at things from a graphical perspective and ignoring all the systems and features a BGS game offers that every other open world doesn’t is flawed

and while people are entitled to their opinions, I don’t take anyone seriously that considers Starfield to look “underwhelming”, a game that looks as good as that with the scale and scope it has is pretty much non-existent

and I’ll take actual features and gameplay systems over certain pretty games mentioned above that are about as deep as a puddle

It’s a sleeper blockbuster that is doing amazing but isn’t in the spotlight, it’s like Roblox in the sense it’s big but the core or hardcore gaming circle aren’t talking about it, which is ok because as long as people are playing it and spending money on it the game will be supported for a long time still and that seems to very much be the case.

One of the reasons why it is not in spotlight is because Xbox accounts do not promote it that much at all.

My entire point is that it doesn’t need the spotlight to be popular or successful, with Roblox being my example.

I am not sure why Roblox is popular in the first place. I guess there are some streams or whatever that are popular…Because people somehow find this game.

They built a gaming giant on the shoulders of free child labor lol.
