Similar to Minecraft. Building and creating, sharing, discovering, and communities.
But that’s the thing - there should be places where these communities communicate. Like people don’t run into Minecraft on the street or Roblox.
This is a pretty decent Gamescom presence. Having playable Grounded, Pentiment, A Plague Tale: Requiem, The Last Case of Benedict Fox and Planet of Lana is awesome. I wish I could go!
I want to take a selfie with VASCO ![]()
It wouldn’t… these are baseless assertions.
Bethesda was announced in a random blogpost in September ABK was announced in a similar fashion in January Double-Fine - E3 2019 InXile and Obsidian - XO18 NT, Compulsion, Playground, and Undead Labs - E3 2018
It was announced 1 day before the pre-orders no?
Yes, there’s a reason “random” is italicized - the entire point is that it wasn’t announced at an event. I think Phil has been very clear about wanting to shy away from announcing acquisitions at events because of the message it can send, and as such every acquisition after said statement has been made via blog post. Ergo assuming that a lack of announcements at XO22 means that there aren’t any, or that individual developers are off the table, is a bit off the mark.
The bethesda announcement was the tipping point that made me buy a series x first
So we have QuakeCon and GameScom relatively close to each other. And then TGS. Nice.
Battalion: Legacy is an Xbox Game Studios title???
The console versions for the game got cancelled.

Brit means it’s in the wrong thread lol.
I see that, but this thread is for talking about news for Microsoft owned Studios or those doing contract work for Microsoft owned IP. That’s why there’s such wonderful series of posts related to them at the start of every Xbox Game Studios thread.
Usually discussion for general games outside of that happens in other threads with larger news items being a thread of their own and smaller stuff landing in the Community thread.
It’s fine if you were unaware. It took me a while to get used to what all the sorting piles were too.
Thanks for the clarification. I rarely create new threads so I wasn’t sure entirely where the general gaming thread was or one that focuses on third party content so that’s the reason I posted it in here.
At a certain point, the conversation shifted from, “Wow, Xbox is investing a lot in first party and bringing in awesome teams!” to “Wow, Xbox is announcing more acquisitions than games.”
I don’t blame them for wanting to move those sorts of announcements out of events. It was never really appropriate anyway, they just did it because they had to make drastic moves, and clearly it worked out in 2018 when they added the first five.
Yeah it was necessary at the time, a very specific set of circumstances.
I personally enjoy the game of acquisitions ![]()
