Starfield? “deflated the hype”? What are you talking about??

The whole “Starfield looked bad” spiel is nonsensical, but also quite informative about the people who say it.

Uh? I’m pretty sure that’s not how this works. Starfield’s (just like GOW:R is doing now) hype will “resurge” as soon as its campaign marketing starts next year simple as that.

Starfield’s hype hasn’t been deflated and if anything, will most likely have more hype to it once we get closer to the actual release. I do believe that Starfield looks better than all of BGS previous games but at the same time, it didn’t wow me visually. For the most powerful console ever released, I was expecting to be wowed visually and I wasn’t. With that said, on the other side, I also believe that showcasing a “moon” planet wasn’t exactly the best idea. Too grayish, too bland and too dull. I’m hoping they show a walkthrough of a foliage filled planet that’s colorful, lush and vibrant. Whenever areas like this is shown in games, it usually always impresses. So that’s what im waiting to see. Until then, they have many more months of development time and polishing to do before showcasing it again.

Is Kojima’s new game going to be a horror game or something else?

I’d be more concerned if starfield was still coming out this year, and saw the issues in the demo they showed.

the fact that it still looked solid + got delayed for more polishing time is reassuring imo.

BGS isn’t 343

Starfield is never going to look as good as Hellblade 2 or whatever because of the type of game it is. Given how big and interactive it is, it’s amazing that it looks as good as it does.

Two months after the Xbox show, I’m still not satisfied with the avowed or fable disappearance, we’d lie to ourselves if we said it might be X0 this year or be at an awards show ( I will not live on what is possible and what is not possible ) , I’m satisfied with Microsoft’s two-year move of acquisitions and a powerful X | S , but I’m still not satisfied On scheduling first-party games

I mean no one really is.

Xbox’s game? Unknown. But there is a horror game.

And in fact they did show it the trailer but we had gameplay in the gray one.

Also framerate, strange colission detection, no blood etc.

Would you rather them show the games before they are ready and have people be disappointed? Or show them now and still not have them release for 2-3 years after that?

We all know why it’s taking so long. Covid. Game development is hard. Hugely ambitious projects. Difficulties hiring talent across the industry. Just be patient and have faith in Obsidian and Playground.

Also, the showcase was only for the next 12 months, so obviously they weren’t there.

They showed Hellblade years in advance…

They did that (and announced the games at the 2020 showcase) because they needed to make announcements and get people excited for the upcoming generation.

As is plain for everyone to see, they stopped doing that in 2021 and 2022 because everyone was sick of CGI trailers. Now they wait until they have something substantial to show (which is representative of the actual game) and until the game is closer to releasing.

Edit: Also, of all the big announced XGS titles, Hellblade is probably the closest to releasing.

It’s relative. If BGS can make their games look “wow” visually it would kinda be unfair to other games, and unrealistic considering the difference in scale, scope, and freedom. And even though it’s not wow, it’s damn beautiful, and again the “wow” comes in when you realize the scope, scale, and freedom.

That will be Forza though.

Okay, fair, but by “big” I was specifically referring to Hellblade, Perfect Dark, Fable, Avowed etc. But yes, Forza counts.

I prefer to add a small show of games that have revealed from a while ago where they reached in the development process and their visual effects and the way of playing in order to maintain the enthusiasm of the player or those waiting for the game, and at the same time maintain your big show yearly .

difficult circumstances are not only for Microsoft

It is hard to predict which game is the closest but yeah it is hould be Hellblade. We haven’t seen anything from other games.

The problem is that such approach will splinter the viewbase - a lot of folks might skip E3 show knowing that only the games for the next year will be there that we either are aware of or have seen them. And those people will go to the show with future games.
