Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

Yeah, those I am pretty far away I think.

I hope to see Wo Long gameplay soon though. I wonder though why Microsoft did not push for Wo Long exclusivity, considering that was able to get GP1 Day 1 deal.

I have a feeling they wanted to publish that originally but Ninja maybe preferred to be a multiplatform for potential of great success like they’re seeing with FromSoft, and settled for Game Pass deal

Hm, interesting. Does not bode well for Microsoft if publishers are just unwilling to make exclusive publishing deals with Xbox in Japan. We know that Sega directly stated that their alliance with Microsoft would not mean exclusive games too.

I wonder if other publishing deals in Japan will result with multiplatform games too (but with GP Day 1 deal). I do curious then whether Microsoft completely pays for the game - including the versions for other platforms.

If Microsoft did it would have been for like 3 months. I think they are satisfied with a Game Pass Day 1 deal and don’t want to pay even more for exclusivity.

If Game Pass is your focus, why pay for both lost sales from competing platform and lost sales from being on the subscription service.

I am pretty sure that GP deal also includes the potential loss sales - I think some calculations involved the assumed amount of copies the game would sell on Playstation without GP.

DF’s game is the one I am most looking forward to get revealed.

I know they will make something crazy fun filled game

Yeah because there is going to be some overlap between the Game Pass customer and the Playstation owner, it’s probably negligible in the math compared to everything else though.

I think for exclusives they should go the XGSP route, that way they are paying to create the game not for lost sales. It probably means no exclusives from the major publishers, but that will likely become less and less common in a competitive market.

I don’t know how you got all this from my post. I’m just talking about Team Ninja maybe preferring to be multiplatform and that’s why they went with Koe Tecmo. They might’ve made this IP in the first place to avoid being PS exclusive like Nioh, maybe because they’re seeing FromSoft having amazing success being multiplatform.

Xbox literally have a deal with Kojima, no one should be off the table. And speaking of Sega, they literally have some Xbox exclusives already.

Hope it’s a party game. Would be interesting to see their take.

Yeah, hopefully GC but otherwise TGA. Most if not all games at the show had gameplay, but not this. This one for me really remains to be seen if it makes it before June.

Yeah, I’m not too excited either, solely because it’s MP and they just don’t mean long hours of fun for me anymore. It is what it is. DF are so good at singleplayer games like Psychonauts, Costume Quest Brutal Legend etc. But I do believe they made a MP game before. Iron Harvest or something? It was with mechs.

Psychonauts 2 was a massive and long undertaking for them, for many reasons but now under Xbox I think if they were to make a third one or a new IP but of the same scope it would go more smoothly.

DF are making multiple games, not one. I don’t think they’ll make a multiplayer game, rather a game with multiplayer. They’ve made some before.

Probably party game yeah. Let’s see if they can make something along Nintendo lines.

Imagine multiplayer FPS :joy: I would like to see the reactions to it.

Oof, will be off the internet for a month.

Supposedly the names thrown around with global publishing is Kojima, Sakaguchi, and Tabata

Not sure about Sakaguchi, but Tabata is rumored to make two games for two publishers.

That is based on that video Xbox shared before the show aired?

No, it was months ago on Booms podcast he said he heard from his “sources” whoever they might be that Phil had struck a deal for those three.

To add to this, one of those xbox youtubers, the spanish guy iirc, supposedly had a document that suggested Tabata was working on a project with Xbox

Tabata is currently working on 2 games, one a multiplayer rpg designed to take away the lengthy grind one expects from an rpg and the other a traditional open world jrpg like FFXV, assuming the deal is true, I fully expect the former to be the one xbox gets unfortunately while they need the latter far more

As for Sakaguchi, all we know if he’s received multiple offers since finishing that game for apple arcade or whatever it’s called

Xbox needs or hardcore community needs?
