Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

Ok, then give me a studio. Who’s making Fallout 5? You’ve dethroned Phil Spencer, money is no issue. Who are you contracting to make it?

Yeah, but the games have to be good.

Microsoft’s management team is smart enough to know that letting the teams work on the games they want is the best option. Nobody here wants to wait til 2030 for a Fallout, hopefully they can staff up and begin work in parallel.

Long waits and excuses are what you get when people add a dash of reality into your Fantasy CEO talk. What you call excuses, I call critical thinking.

You’re ‘missing the forest for the trees’ by asking for a specific studio. As I’ve stated it’s common game industry practice to have new developers and teams take on popular ip. I’m not going to fall for the circular argument trap because at that point it’s clear your opinion is set in stone and I wont convince you otherwise.

Nobody wants Fallout by a random studio, including the stewards of the IP.

You cant just say get another studio to make it like its no big deal and have no answer when asked

This shit is nowhere as easy as you’re making it out to be

I would be shocked if we get a non-BGS Fallout game that isn’t made by Obsidian.

The only other possibility is an isometric game made by inXile, but even that is very unlikely given inXile’s projects right now.

You mean we can’t just assign CDPR to it?

This conversation is like the mobile version of a “Fantasy CEO” simulation game.

Yeah this would be good. Was weird it still didn’t get a physical release. I was thinking maybe limited run would do it.

I’m kinda crazy and have been thinking InXile is in preproduction on a new Fallout game. Don’t think it needs to be isometric though.

I suggest the talk be removed from this topic and placed into its own Fantasy CEO thread.

Time to use Flags appropriately. :see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

But if nobody wants to work on it, what’s gonna Microsoft do?

That is also true. All online folks ask Josh Sawyer to work on it, but he does not want to work on big AAA games right now at all.

But people do. Ultimately when nobody wants to work on something they reach out to partners for pitches, like they have evidently done for Banjo and Killer Instinct.

Isometric requires less resources and smaller team to make the project. Considering that Inxile is full on their new project, I don’t think they have a capacity for AAA Fallout game.

I mean it just happened that all the studios that could work on Fallout are busy with their new IPs :man_shrugging:

And even for those games it was incredibly hard and there is nothing but rumors right now. With RPGs it is even harder (probably just as hard as with Fighting games, but at least FG does not require good writing teams)

There was some rumor they’re making Fallout remasters but that’s stupid and I don’t believe it for a second.

Here’s my personal cool scenario to make a new Fallout game/s:

  • Fallout 1 and 2 remakes in the vain of modern Fallout

Or

  • New Vegas 2 - or other spin-off

Team: Establish a cross-studio team collaboration between BGS x Obsidian x InXile

Of course for this to happen multiple parties have to agree and want to work on it. It’s easy to get lost in a perfect fantasy that seems very reasonable, not influenced by the complicated realities of game development and creative projects overall.

That art is sick!

It’s not impossible but I doubt it. Both of inXile’s projects (Cobalt and the other one) were in some form of development/pre-production before Bethesda was acquired. It’s possible the second project could have morphed into Fallout, but I still think it’s more likely that Obsidian enter pre-production on New Vegas 2 after Grounded and Pentiment are out.

If ever, more likely Avowed or TOW’s team/s

Xbox and Bethesda will likely want Josh Sawyer taking the lead on New Vegas 2, so after Pentiment, I think he will create a small team to take the project through pre-production. Then, once Avowed is out, the bulk of that team will join New Vegas 2 to help it ramp up (maybe some of them will go over to The Outer Worlds 2).

After Pentiment, Josh Sawer should be free for another project. Wonder if he’s gonna be back to AAA or will continue with a smaller project.
