Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

Yeah so this is pretty much what we already knew. They never explicitly said COD would remain multiplat, but I’m just gonna assume they will be. Maybe Overwatch as well. Things like Blizzard’s new survival IP, though, will definitely be exclusive.

Anyway I am pretty excited for Activision’s stuff to hit Game Pass. Definitely a bunch of stuff I want to try from them.

Would it make sense to make Overwatch 3 though? Better to update the existing one (which was the original Blizzard’s plan for OW1 thus OW2 is an updated over OW1)

Existing games (and coming within contractual obligations) will be multiplatform - that’s expected. But everything else - COD mainline after 2024 (or even 2023), Diablo 5 will be exclusive.

They are still releasing games of the Minecraft franchise on PlayStation.

Yeah, true that.

And for example a brand new game by ZOS will be exclusive since it has no community yet.

Through a lengthy, brutal cinematic trailer followed by a gameplay trailer, Blizzard has announced its isometric action RPG Diablo IV (Diablo 4) at BlizzCon 2019. It is being developed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The game is announced for last gen consoles so umm…could this be a Psychonauts 2 situation with Sony only getting a PS4 version?

I’m not gonna lie I kinda don’t like the fingers in the ear cod will become exclusive no matter what, head in the sand thinking. They literally just compared it to Minecraft, they have told us it’s multiplatform, they would lose so much money, FTC worries and so many things point to the games being multiplatform but people just scream but Bethesda.

Starfield is exclusive because it has no community yet on any system

Redfall is exclusive because it has no community yet on any system

We are comparing cod to those titles and I’m sorry as much as I am for Starfield and Redfall they don’t remotely come close to cod.

It is exception which does not apply to Activision. I mean Phil said it that they regret releasing those games on other platforms as it created the false expectations.

I honestly could care less if COD stays multiplatform. It will be on Game Pass, and Xbox resources will also enable amazing experiences for us gamers across the rest of the massive developer resources from Activision and Blizzard.

again “losing so much money”. They literally spend 70b - the amount they ABK hasn’t learnt even with COD over tens of years…FTC won’t bother with semantics of COD exclusivity.

So TES is multiplatform. Got it. :man_facepalming:

Nary a mention of those that have reported conflicting information from the tabloid’s article I’m sure…

I think that Xbox openly talking about Activision-Blizzard in this media briefing material is an encouraging sign that they are feeling confident in closing this acquisition out successfully.

Not regarding Minecraft. The tune for Minecraft is completely different.

There is nothing in this world that could change your mind. If Phil walks on stage on Sunday and says COD is keep going to release on PlayStation, for the next two decades. You still would be like “What if he only means remasters and remakes?”

You don’t become a 2 trillion dollar company by throwing away money, they didn’t get to that size being wreckless and just throwing money away. I know they have so much money that it really doesn’t matter but you do know they are a public company and if they aren’t making money questions will be asked by the shareholders.

When I say FTC and such I don’t mean it’s a big deal for them but can you agree with me that it’s not a good look that a big company like that buying up 2 big publishers and probably more in the future then just ripping up all contracts, removing games from platforms then forcing people to buy another box or sub to their games service. I don’t neccerly think if MS made cod exclusive the FTC will clamp down on them but I do think they would in future look at em a bit more with a fine tomth comb.

Again do you think TES is as big as cod? I would say it could go either way it could be exclusive or not.

When it comes down to it I am talking about cod and just cod, I don’t think it’s exclusive in any way because you probably saw the numbers the other day. Any other game I would also say 50/50 I couldn’t honestly say how they will go.

I genuinely don’t really care what happens because I know no matter what happens the games will be on Xbox, Xbox Game Pass and I will never have to worry about any sort of content or whatnot missing, oh and we’ll probably be treated to cool in game stuff.

he said only two decades so that means it’s exclusive after that! /s haha

Yeah I’ve come to that point too. Now when I look back at earlier this year when I was stressing about what they meant about CoD…I’m like…what am I doing to myself? It comes to Game Pass, it’s all I need.

It’s the same with exclusivity for any other games, if they are for Xbox only, great, if not, great too. I wouldn’t agree with it though because your service needs iron strong exclusive content, but that’s it.
