Xbox Game Studios |OT7| Killer News Here!?

They should just use those assets to make a Pokemon game .

I wonder what was the original vision for this game, did they just produce a ton of cool concept artwork and tried to ride it without any other vision for the game?

I still hope they turn it into some kind of Pokemon. Collect animals, build your ecosystem for them and stuff, maybe even battle some evil spirits or whatever with them.

Wasn’t there a journalist that said that he saw the pitch for Everwild and it was the most ambitious game ever ?

Exactly what Nick said in the podcast. :stuck_out_tongue: Make it a more mature Pokémon game.

MS is not gonna let that happen, they fear the word “cancellation” the most, after the disasters of last gen. Like people said, why they don’t make a Pokémon clone, but with AAA quality, which Games Freak will NEVER made? It would embarass Nintendo, which would be cool to see, lol.

I respect that Rare want to make games that “no one else makes” but should that be an excuse for gross inefficiency? 1 game in a decade should be questioned, and I don’t know if that’s the case internally because they’re probably loving SoT’s huge success and that gets them [Rare] clout at Xbox.

What the trailers depict is something really interesting, and if the game looks visually like the trailer that would be magical. I think they probably just have a general idea of a world/ecosystem management and growth with social aspects (the name EverWild basically alludes to that), but don’t know how to tie it together with interesting gameplay mechanics.

The Pokemon approach is so obvious, they should go for it 100%.
If they want to make something no one has ever done before, that’s an AAA more mature Pokemon lol.

Maybe this is a community post but whatever.

My friend invited me out to a day trip last night and we decided we’re going to visit Bethesda Maryland and Baltimore because we live two hours away. and yes, we’re going to pass by Bethesda Game Studios, and yes…that might be the reason why we decided on passing through Rockville Maryland.

I’m very excited to see what Marylands like, its going to be interesting seeing the environment around the city to get an understanding as to how it impacts the creatives on these big Bethesda projects.

I just can’t help but wonder how and why it was even decided to show it off. If they weren’t even sure what the game was going to be…how does it get the green light to be shown off? Shouldn’t the one in charge at least need to know wtf it is what they are going to reveal? Can’t think of many games that got revealed and the makers didn’t even yet know themselves what it was gonna be. Doesn’t a game start with a vision, with a idea what it all will be about and how it’ll play?

Also goes a little against what other sources said. I recall something about a co-op action adventure. But that’s the thing with rumors and insiders, wtf even knows what’s true anymore? Definitely a shame to see Rare being in such situations now, they can do great things.

For sure. I’d love for them to go back to their singleplayer ways and make a great action adventure with this art style, unless they’d undo all that too.

But the way that game launched is something I’d hope nobody at Xbox wants to see a repeat of because that was not good and that’s putting it mildly.

These are the kind of things that still need a big change at Xbox, that was shown with 343 as well.

Not even close

right now the best thing to do is to hide Everwild under the rug and hope nobody notices for a while. Eventually we’ll see it again but right now the projects deep in restart mode.

In what way? I meant things like mismanagement and just overall as a studio and game not having 100% smooth sailing. Now I realize that probably barely any game has 100% smooth sailing but, you know.

I guess what you’re trying to say is the lack of a clear vision of what the game should be, Halo Infinite had this in the beginning, Everwild is still stuck in this.

Oh? I assumed it was Crossfire after that got a release date. Is it not that?

I’m not worried about Everwild.

I thought you meant Halo Infinite launched in a similar state to SoT lol

Although we have reports on 343 testifying to lack of clear vision on top of power struggle and probably mismanagement, we don’t know that about Rare. They could just lack a clear vision for Everwild for how ambitious they are without there being mismanagement or power struggles.

I think the game simply got announced much earlier than it should have (because Xbox had nothing at the time) so now everything just looks like mismanagement.

I mean I dont think it did but by the time the second trailer rolled around a year had passed and they couldn’t tell you what the game was it was a red flag to me. Every interview you could tell they had no idea what the point of it was.

Just make Everwild AAA pokemon and get rid of this supposed “no combat” restriction if it’s holding them back

We would finally get pokemon style game that doesnt look like complete shit from 3 gens ago
