Drew Murray was design director

Well then shit that was known since 2019. The hell was OtheERA talking about?

The posting on OtherERA made it seem like they lost a second design director.

OtherTime on OtherEra is “Recent” if bad news or “Ancient” if good news for Xbox.

Looks like it’s the guy that took over for Drew

FUCK.

It’s OK, they can replace him with someone from CD haha

they bring it up in this thread on purpose for attention.

Damn lost both the one from Insomniac and the one from KojiPro/God Of War.

What the hell is going on overthere?

It’s alright. Get some fresh air. Perhaps stand by an open window.

I think I found the article about Obsidian that you might have mixed up though. From 2017:

I remember referencing this particular article a lot in resetera OT.

Obsidian went from having their biggest contract ever cancelled to making a bunch of games of that calibre.

The way people follow others leaving and joining studios is weird af and the way people immediately jump to doom and gloom is annoying af

High turn over industry and today’s job market is wild, I wouldn’t worry about it.

We know why the first guy left (personal issues with a death in the family) and based on the post linked above this guy is leaving on good terms, so maybe not panic so much.

True

I guess LinkedIn stalking it was his second longest position at a game dev studio

I got 0 worries about The Initiative particularly after CD joined the project.

Do think the game will be more 2024-ish than 2023ish.

There is always turnover in the industry. He was there for 3 years it seems. That is a lifetime within game development and even the wider software engineering field.

It’s a nonstory.

The game is entering full production now.

It’s entirely normal for leads and directors to leave projects at this stage of development.

Remember all the drama over Chris Lee leaving 343i? Tim Longo? Mary Olson?

Nonstory.

Shifting Gears (Of War :doge:)

The sense of exploration and wonder on Halo Infinite is incredible

I spent like two hours last night just exporing sections of Zeta Halo.

It really has the BotW wild feel to it of always discovering something new.

I think what I like the most about the exploration is that when I think “Okay, let’s grapple to the top of the mountain”, THERE’S SOMETHING THERE.

Just like Santa Monica and Insomniac lost them to The Initiative?

Also, Drew left for family reasons.
