Where are the #'s to suggest thats the case Klob?

Again nobody doubts the launch numbers but aside from that the game did nothing else and there is 0 evidence to suggest it did anything noticeable besides it. We get player milestones for Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 4 and 5, State of Decay 2, etc … . Where are the Gears 5 ones? Ori smoked Gears on Steam for example and just about any other game they have dropped in there does/did better. Do you see anybody talk about Gears in any capacity if its not to say "Coalition is underrated’? Again the dialogue here isnt the launch numbers which are Netflix level of meaningless after a week for Game Pass purposes and the key metrics are player retention and engagement and those are easily proven to be down compared to previous entries and other games.

I mean, I literally just posted an article that shows that Gears 5 was a record-breaking game for Xbox. The whole “that was only at launch” comment is super weird – why would the game only be successful in its fist 3 days and then suddenly stop from one day to the other? That logic makes no sense. Everything points to Gears 5 being a success – critically as well – and you just say otherwise without any kind of evidence. It’s you who should brought some receipts in here, not the other way around

Gears 5 got massive post-launch support, the game ranked at the very least in the Top 50 Most Played Games on Xbox for 2 years straight – for the longest time around the 20th mark, in some Latin America countries much higher, of course. Gears 5 was a showcase title with its update even for the next-generation. Xbox wouldn’t have invested so much in this game for such a long time if the players wouldn’t be there. And still are.

Gears 5 is at Season 8. No “unsuccessful game” will receive that much investment, quite simple as that.

Gears WAS a core part and its been less interest to people ever since the 360 and That has nothing to do with the console and more of people absolutely being less interested in it as the years go on. The story reboot undermines the original trilogy and the writing is at conflict with everything Gears was.

Right now its about 8 IP’s at xbox above it so I dont know anything about it being a pillar anymore. But hey if they wanna keep on churning them out so be it, Ill play them and carry on and we can spend another generation talking how “nobody gives Coalition their flowers”.

This doesn’t mean The Coalition shouldn’t innovate with Gears or maybe even with other projects, nowhere did I suggest that. But to me, both the Gears IP and the community are way, way too valuable to be ignored.

I think The Coalition should move on from Gears because they’re talented and should expand beyond the series, but also don’t deny that Gears is still pretty popular and shouldn’t be completely abandoned. Gears is a huge part of the Xbox scene in Mexico for example.

… People are down on Gears beause the series has barely evolved in 15 years, adding a robot that can do a couple thing is to help you in combat and pointless open world sections is not what the series needs The idea that it needs to die or they need to move on to a new IP isnt true although it would be nice as new IPs are always cool to have but they 100% absolutely need to innovate with 6 if they want to continue the series as a “pillar” Iv said it before and steam sales arent everything but basically all the big games MS have put on steam/pc have thrived, SoT, Forza, Halo, AoE but Gears has straight up failed on steam and arguably the best playing TPS series for the last decade, a game that look and runs as well as Gears should be doing that badly when everything else continues to make bank
