Xbox Game Studios |OT7| Killer News Here!?

Halo infinite is the first time ive seen all of my friends genuinely enjoy a shooter in a long time. Im not big into shooters so im not playing it, but my group of friends are big into them and they’ve been struggling to find a shooter that everyone likes for a while now. Sure theres Valorant, Siege, Apex, COD, and Battlefield, but with every single one of those theres a portion of them that dont like them. Halo has finally accomplished that unifying feat and its nice to see

You don’t have to be on par with the MCU to use a logo treatment :joy::joy::joy:

You take that wayyyy too seriously. The idea of “proving themselves worthy” of a certain corporate branding is a bizarre one.

I didn’t say they had to be on par. I said that the fact they were still a ways off from that level of production made it look ever worse. That’s all.

I expressed an opinion that you, for whatever bizarre reason, seem upset about. I don’t think I’m the one taking things too seriously.

Not sure where you’re getting this “proving” thing from. Defeating made up arguments may be fun and easy but I’d like you to stick to the ones I actually make in my post, thanks.

I’m curious, from where are we getting the information that Grounded is launching in 2022?

I don’t think anything has been said about that and people are just guessing. It seems very likely though, how long can they keep it in early access anyway before it is silly?

My guess:

XGS + BSW Exclusives 2022 Slate
Q1 2022 | (The Gunk*)
Q2 2022 | As Dusk Falls + Grounded
Q3 2022 | Pentiment + Redfall
Q4 2022 | Forza Motorsport + Starfield

(*The Gunk isn’t a first party exclusive but it’s a permanent exclusive so it’s worth putting in there, imo.)

I didn’t say your disagreement in and itself was why you were upset either. It’s the fact you’re so worked up about it that would suggest you’re a little bit upset.

I mean, you out here defeating made up arguments and arguing with me about what I actually said.

I’m inclined to agree this is all very strange. I’m also over it.

Yeah, none of that happened. I made one post responding to what you said (and yes, what you actually said, not “made-up arguments”) and you started getting real mad about it. No “working up” was involved, silly. I’m putting you in time-out for a week. Hopefully you’ll cool off.

Quit being emotional, it’s weird and you’re derailing the thread. You don’t have to announce you’re gonna ignore anyone.

I don’t know. Not sure “silly” is the term I’d use. Matt Booty’s comments from the recent KFGC interview made it seem like that game has long plans, and my conclusion from that was then, why “rush” it to 1.0 if they’re going to support it for years later? They still want to add in a campaign, right? And if I had to guess, they’re looking at what made Valheim so successful and seeing what inspiration they can draw from there.

I suppose my point is, survival games are notorious for being in early access for years, and unless Obsidian has other plans, I see no reason to rush Grounded to 1.0 as long as their monthly engagement has been staying steady, or even better, growing. Grounded is one of those games that seems like it really needs a “hey, this game is actually great now!” article/video boost that we’ve seen in the past for games like Sea of Thieves, No Man’s Sky, Fallout 76 and others.

To be clear, I have no “issue” with Grounded going 1.0 in 2022, and I’m sure the team has much better plans for the game than us here at XboxEra. Obviously, with the way current games have post-launch support for years, “going 1.0” means less than ever. We’ll see what happens!

You can continue to support a game after formally releasing it.

If the game isn’t properly released in 2022, it will very much be silly. The early access was released in Summer 2020. It’ll be pushing on three years in early access if we get to 2023 and it’s still not released.

What grounded needs more than the 1.0 release is proper servers.

I have absolutely zero doubt Grounded is 100% launching in 2022. What I’m curious of is how they intend to carry on with the title.

IMO, they should consider treating it like Minecraft x Dark Pictures Anthology. Each X.0v of the games comes with an entirely new casts, stories, maps, biomes and scheduled content updates.

Launched Grounded 1.0 in 2022 and support it for another 2~3 years.

Then launch Grounded 2.0 in 2024 or beyond.

I can’t think of a single reason why Grounded couldn’t be an extremely successful, long-running survival RPG franchise. It’s a great entry RPG for kids and adults, plus it lends itself very well to co-op so I’m sure a lot of gamer parents appreciate the ability to play and build with their kids. The IP itself has a lot of transmedia and merchandising potential of course, which is only to be expected given it drew inspiration from a quite talented film franchise.

This IP is already well on its way to major success, I’m just curious how far ahead MS/Obsidian are looking.

New biomes are a must, this game gives me a huge toy story vibe, so having biomes that go beyond nature, like a kitchen, garage with a car interior biome and sewers, would be nuts to me.

im in!!

If Grounded 2.0 takes place in an attic, bedroom, cellar - really anything on the inside of a house - boooy, that’s gonna be interesting. They can go absolutely nuts with it.

MS can do a whole lot with this IP. Kid friendly movies, shows, spinoffs, educational collaborations, crossover promos with Minecraft, etc.

I wonder if they should consider a Friend Pass model for online co-op to give it the best chance to really take off at launch.

I’m pretty sure the Gunk got a release date at the thunderful world. December 2021.
