I’m not so sure a mid-gen refresh is happening. Last time around, 4K was becoming a thing. And the console manufacturers had to respond. This time, I don’t see any display tech that they’re gonna have to have.
So for exclusives in 2022, what all will Xbox have?

2022 will probably be the last year it appears Sony and MS are on similar footing in terms of first party output.
Xbox should have As Dusk Falls, Forza Motorsport, Grounded, The Gunk, Redfall and Starfield all hit next year. If Pentiment makes it too, that’s 7 exclusives with 5 of those being entirely new first party IPs.
Timed exclusives will do a lot of heavy lifting for Sony by way of FF16, Forspoken, Ghostwire and whatever else they snatched up for that year to boost their line up of GoW, GT7 and HFW.
2023 and beyond is when MS will be pulling away in the race. At breakneck speeds.
I don’t bother counting timed exclusives, esp if they’re only 3 months.

They’re getting there. Give it another 2 years I’d say.
Yeah, 2022 is a little light but don’t think that’s going to change. Once 2022 gets going in the second half of the year there is no turning back though.

I don’t get to play exclusivity, I do get to play everything in GP.

This 100% all the time. Game Pass is a direct benefit to me, where exclusivity isn’t in any way.

The chip shortage won’t be resolved until 2023, so if there is a mid gen refresh, this gen will be one of the longest.
I lean towards there being no mid gen upgrade this time around. I mean if Sony does it, MS will have no choice but to follow suit, but I don’t see the need.
Mid gen refresh last gen was about UHD TVs rapid adoption. I don’t think anyone wants it to be the norm that they feel they’re missing our if they don’t buy two consoles every generation rather than one.
I don’t think anyone here is disagreeing with GP deals being better than timed exclusivity.
My only point on timed exclusives is that they don’t count when comparing exclusive content between the platforms.

It’s so weird to think that we now have Halo Infinite, sure the campaign isn’t out yet but we’re already getting our gameplay fix. Redfall is the next xbox game studios game correct?

We don’t really know what’s next. Redfall is summer, which could be as late as September. It’s possible games without release windows could be before that.
