All they need for AoE IV is servicable controller support and full m+kb support. It works with a controller, but is best with m+kb. Like Flight Sim: it works with a controller, is better with m+kb but you really should have a flight stick/pedal setup. I don’t see anyone crying over that.
I’m a major RTS fan since I was a kid, there’s no way the controller experience is going to be equal or better than M/KB, but I always thought the option should exist.
RTS games are my passion, if a console player can try the game by playing on a controller and fall in love with it, that’s all I care about.
Everyone should be able to experience it, multiplayer should have the option for cross-play if people so choose.
Yes, it would be very good for the franchise and the genre with bringing in new players.
They will have to adapt UI and the way games plays too. Because you just can’t achieve the same fluidity of “click and drag” with a controller. You cannot do that fast. That’s why the games that are based on squads (where you can select a set of units), or 4X work better on consoles that other RTS.
There is no strategy game on console that was not adapted to be playable with a controller. I for one think that console strategy games should have mobile strategy game complexity. Simpler UI, simpler mechanics and so on.
I hope no dev listens to this lol.
Supreme Commander, one of the most complex RTS ever made was ported to the X360.
Anything is possible, they just need time.
Hope we won’t get a walkthrough during his stream.
I don’t see Grubb, only a Jedi Master.
And that’s why they watered down Supreme Commander 2 You always have to sacrifice some mechanics for console versions.
I don’t think they watered it down because of the console port.
But one thing is for sure that decision was it’s downfall.
I believe it was in the time where strategy games were trying to leverage console platforms thus making games simpler. I think a lot of games at that period (I think somewhere during Xbox 360 era) simplified some mechanics in order to appeal to broader market.
I think it’ll definitely hit it. It’s a first-party game, the reception has been amazing and I’m sure they have no shortage of fundings to do whatever with it now.
It seems that it’s pretty much up to the dev team if you they want to include dlc, I just hope I can get the new creation club stuff without upgrading to next Gen version. Because modding is apparently taking a hit for the AE versions, also all Forza dlc is all licensed as it’s all pretty much cars I think.
Grubb just teased that he’s gonna talk about the Josh Sawyer game on Grubbsnax next week!
Project Missourri - let’s go!
Jeff Grubb just said that the Belfry game apparently looks amazing, visually. And on the next Grubbsnax he will talk about Josh Sawyer’s game.
I see you in the chat, haha
LOL - yeah.
Do you have a different allias on the YT channel?
Yeah, I’m BigFresh37, but I don’t chat often. As a matter of fact, I’m probably gonna switch to my bedroom in a minute and won’t even see the chat.
