How to play games without his kids interrupting him. But no one does.

id Software, part of the ZeniMax Media Inc. family of companies, is seeking a Senior Technical Animator/ Character TD to join our team in our Richardson, TX studio (near Dallas) in the development of a long-running iconic action FPS.

At least we know they’re working on a FPS from an iconic IP lol.

Well, that’s Doom or Quake, I guess.

Quake Reboot.

Wasn’t that last DLC a good closure for Doom.

For now yes

Martin also said that DOOM Eternal wasn’t really the end so hard to tell.

“While this is the end of the story arc that began in Doom (2016), we planted a lot of stakes in the ground with that story,” Martin told Polygon. “And we’ve been able to flesh out a lot of those things throughout the course of [ Doom Eternal ] and to do two DLCs. So that story arc will end, you know, from the time you woke up in the sarcophagus to the end of the DLC, but there are more stories to tell with the Doom Slayer, for sure.”

“Could we tell a story about when [the Doom Slayer] first came to that place with the Sentinels, almost like a more medieval setting, a fantasy setting?” Martin asked. “I think as you play the DLC, too, you’ll see lots of hints of what we could do moving forward. Maybe even in the future. Again, our hero is somewhat timeless — I mean, literally, he’s immortal. So we could tell all kinds of stories.”

There’s a bit of confusion around the Mysterious Voice in DOOM Eternal, who can be heard shouting “noooo!” after you defeat the Khan Maykr. Following an Ancient Gods – Part One patch, this was revealed to be Davoth, which was then reverted back to Mysterious Voice in the Part Two patch as it was inaccurate, according to Hugo Martin, the game’s director.

Martin mentions in the stream that it isn’t in fact Davoth and that it’s the “idea that there is something beyond that could be overlooking all of this is what that voice is meant to tease and poke at.” This voice is likely to be the creator of the Primevals and the true big bad of the DOOM universe, which we may explore in future games. Martin also revealed in a stream that Davoth and Doomguy are both Primevals, beings assigned to look after specific realms.

TL;DR- Can’t imagine going faster than Eternal, so next game will likely play weightier. May or may not include mechs, but Hugo does want to give players control one day. Very likely to include cosmic horror. Possibly tie into Quake?

• “We will never make the same game twice” and “We haven’t made our best Doom game yet”

(…)

• Hugo really likes car analogies. If Eternal is a super fast sports car going a million miles an hour, he thinks he’d want the next game might feel like a weighty monster truck

(…)

• On mechs: “We keep flirting with the idea in the games. Each game/DLC we get you closer to the pilot seat”

• “One day, we would like to find keys. Give us some time”

• Wanted Davoth to transform into a dragon in DLC and you fight him in a mech, but was too ambitious for the DLC. “Boss fights take over a year to make”

• Hugo wants to move story away from the codexes and more onto the screen

• “You shouldn’t have to watch developer interviews for these answers”

• He mentions his love of cosmic horror a lot, and says cosmic horror and hell go perfectly together

(…)

• Says there’s a tier above Davoth in terms of power, and mentions the Mysterious Voice which speaks after you kill the Khan.

• Says the Mysterious Voice was changed to Dark Lord as an error

• “Who created Davoth, and is there even really a God in this world?”

• Between the maykrs, the mysterious voice, and the wraiths, he says “We have to leave something to mess with”
