It probably would have been a surprise announcement for this month if the game being on GP didn’t leak. Since it did there wasn’t any point in it hiding it I guess.

Hitting the nail on its head there, in my book.
For me it’s with Starfield, ngl. I was so excited about those show rumors and naturally had no doubts that Starfield would be there too. But then that has to be the one game Jez mentions might not be there, and there may be a bigger marketing beat for that later on. Which makes me go back to guessing when this “later on” is, you’d think it can’t be long.
So we’re then back to having to wait and see if they say anything during the Direct. At the end of the day it’s all about what you personally look forward to, and expect and of all H1 games I just solely care about Starfield. Redfall so far does little for me (as Arkane fan I hope the direct will change this).
Definitely true about how it often feels like there’s a catch. Some don’t mind it, some do.

Ok, well then that is unfortunate. I just don’t see the point in not talking about things. Usually discussions here are pretty level headed?
I personally don’t really see why someone else having different opinions, preferences, focus or what have you is a problem on a forum. I wonder a bit what people expect sometimes.

Why does it need to be “nuts”? If it’s a good show that dates some upcoming big titles and adds more into what is already a solid GP month overall is that not enough?

This year on christmas day my kids were up at 6 and presents were all opened by ten to 7. The rest of the day they was a complete anticlimax for them and they were in a bit of a slump despite all the great new things they had to play with. It was like it was the anticipation they craved more than the actual toys and games.
Dont know why i thought of that

Wonder what the chances are of Gotham Knights coming to Game Pass this year. I don’t think it did extremely well, plus WB games has had games on the service before. I’d definitely like it.
As for this month, I’m surprised not even some smaller indie titles have been announced for this first half. All in all it’s highly unusual.

Xbox has never announced anything, insiders are great but create expectations that there will even be a showcase or that if there is one Starfield will definitely be there.
You and others create expectations off of unverified info and are frustrated when they are not what you imagined. It is always a good idea to take this stuff with a grain of salt.

This is what I’m thinking too, but the sad part is that this puts a bunch of pressure on the showcase since people will go in with that expectation and the people who want to be upset/have a tenuous relationship with reality will be disappointed.
It’s true, it seems like the baseline enthusiasm for Xbox is pretty low in general in the media and just about any hiccup or slowing of momentum gets people frothing again. A game gets delayed? Xbox is doomed. Prices might go up to $70? Phil Spencer should resign. Regulator taking their time regulating? MS is gonna have to pull out of that market.
It’s not tenable to keep different varieties of people hyped all through the year, I don’t envy the people in charge.

Some people only want specific games, I understand but you are destined to be dissapointed if you are only interested in a few things when Xbox has so many things going on.

I agree with this. There has been zero information about any show from Xbox. Why people are taking rumours like facts I don’t understand. I still think this focus on leaks and rumours over pretty much all else in the Xbox fan base, influencers, sites etc. is very unfortunate and should not be encouraged or signal boosted. At least not to the extent that it is now.

Insiders definitely are a double edged sword. Had it not been for them we would not have know about several things in the past, sometimes good, sometimes bad because theyd spoil the whole E3 show.
As for this, I wish MS would not wait too long and announce it, basically beat these insiders to the punch.

Disagree not everybody is active like us that knows most things releasing on Xbox and gamepass . We have to remember their social media accounts also have to cater to people that aren’t aware, need a reminder, and potential new customers.

Ehhh it’s not just criticism, you can be unhappy with things that’s cool and understandable. It’s just getting to the point where that’s all that’s said. No nuance, no balance, just Xbox bad all the time. Not man High on life was cool on gamepass, it’s why they didn’t announce anything new GRRRRR!!! It’s just starting to get old especially coming from folks that are fans of Xbox. Again Xbox isn’t perfect I totally agree I wish the balance shifted a little more positive.
