I’m currently a bit past the halfway point right now and I’m enjoying it quite a bit!
I don’t enjoy the cast of this one as much as the previous two games, but there are still some stellar members in the group that reach the heights of 1 & 2. Some of the dialog is pretty dated for today’s standards (this is also partially because one of the characters is mostly unlikable from the get go).
With that said, I’m enjoying it quite a bit and would say it’s worth a shot if you enjoyed the first two.
So i finally finished AI: The Somnium Files. I like detective games so overall i enjoyed it quite a lot. The branching storyline with multiple endings fit well and there was lots to discover about the characters and their past. Dialog and banter were fitting and also funny most of the time but they missed me with some of the more creepier pervy stuff. Also they totally not adressed how bad all these police characters are because holy invasion of privacy Batman!
Every other game should take notes on the ending. Wasn’t this just the bestest? If your game does not end with a dance number why are you even in this industry?! Reflect long and hard about this!
I don’t get why the song started in Japanese and soon turned all into English. I played the whole game in Japanese. Personally I thought the song was OK, not my favorite part, hahaha.
My favorite part was when the big reveals happened, the big twists, sheesh!
Also, how did Mizuki get so incredibly strong?
About Slime Rancher, one thing is a bummer. It’s how the framerate is not keeping up at all anymore. Especially on the ranch with all the corrals with slimes and also some other big areas. This can’t be a XSX issue. The framerate is probably locked I’m guessing and not unlocked, so VRR sadly can’t work its magic.
In the past week, finished Tinykin and Prodeus. Two games that I didn’t know existed until they hit Game Pass. Both were excellent. Prodeus was a throw-back to PC FPS games back before the OG Xbox launched. It felt very nostalgic…yet just modern enough. I kept going back to it. Fun as hell. Tinykin was one of the few collectathons that held my attention all the way through. Normally I get extremely bored with those types of games. It was chill and also pretty addictive.
Also finished the DLC for The Ascent. Despite some gameplay balancing issues, really loved the gameplay loop. Looking forward to seeing what those devs do next. The Ascent has the bones of a great franchise with just a little refinement.
I got off my duff and decided to go through the steps to get Game Pass up and going on the Steam Deck today. It works very well, seems to stream a lot better than my iPhone/iPad. Tested it with Deathloop, Grounded, and Fortnite and while there’s a little detectable “latency”, it’s very playable. Off topic sort of, but wow is Fortnite way over my head. The menu is so darn busy! Battle passes and modes and just…clutter!
Ah ffs… This was a huge problem in the first game. I would have thought that was the first thing they made sure to focus on for a sequel. Hopefully better once it gets out of Game Preview or I’m not touching that.
I had to “set them free” in some portions of my ranch to be able to move through the area. It would wreck the OG Xbox One and the OneX wasn’t released yet.
Fortunately most of the end game portions took place outside and away from the ranch.
Yeah the first game is broken af. That it isn’t better on XSX should be proof enough that it is crap. I hope the sequel is in better shape, I like to be able to finish my games haha.
The wait for the final version of Slime Rancher 2 is gonna be long. I read its at least 18 months. And I checked what happened with the first game, yeah, that sounds about right.
I’m nearing the final bits of the first one and I am so ready for more, so I definitely will start with 2, even if it’s Game Preview.
