They might be in negotiations for continuing their stay? That’s what it felt like with some games which was on it then left for a month or two then returned back to the service.
Obviously it was related to your example, all megacorps are greedy and unnecessarilt wealthy, MS included, they tried to bump Gold price during a pandemic, we must watch them carefully all the time, public noise is the only deterrent we have.
Yeah, that could be part of it. Perhaps start negotiating sooner then? lol
Yes, lets not pretend they are our friends.
It’s been awhile. I’ll have to find a list of what’s being added, unless this is shadowdropping solo.
Edit: Gorogoa and Olija are available as well. On both PC and Xbox.
Why they wouldn’t want to do it, it would be in line with their final goals for GP and the next logical step, BIG (with the capital letters) 3rd party games are the last missing link to the puzzle.
I don’t believe BIG third parties are convinced yet (we know Take 2 isn’t) and they gonna want their 3-6 months of up front sales (see Bamco) before they jump in.
It’s clearly on MS to spread the juice to make it happen. The first one would be a study case to see if it’s worth it.
Reality of a subscription services is big budget content produced by the owner of the service and mid-tier stuff from third parties to fill the gaps. There is no reason for Capcom to put RE Day 1 because it is not going to make them any more money.
The cost to get the biggest of games (or movies) is simply too much.
It would be played by much more people, expecially newcomers in the X series attracted to the shiny new thing at day one. Many of them would become new customers of the X series. On top of an upfront check from MS. They only need to find the first publisher which is willing to risk (a relative risk, they wouldn’t do it for no compensation).
They can achieve that by putting the game on Game Pass 6 months later with much less risk to their bottom line.
If you have enough confidence in your IP and game, you don’t need to take an upfront check (risk reduction, that will result in reduced profit). Let the thing sell.
If you do accept a check, it is going to need to be a big prohibitively large one
The perfect opportuniy was (is?) Dying Light 2: huge game, but from an independent dev with not the financial might of a multi billion dollar publisher, they are clearly an easier target. Among publishers SE and SEGA are clearly the easieast targets, they are hugely risk averse.
Wish we knew more about the economics of this stuff. I’m really curious how much a day 1 deal costs versus a month 6 (or 12) deal. I imagine it’s a pretty big difference since game sales can be front loaded.
Also don’t know that day 1 benefits the publisher at all unless it’s a GaaS game.
I didn’t realize the first game sold so well. It’s definitely not launching into Game Pass.
Olija is really underrated. I played the demo prior to its original release and was surprised with how fluid the gameplay was.
Obviously you’ll never get a 3rd party one and done experience like an action, it has no replayability nor GaaS, so it’s a 99% lost sale, you can only count on the bigger exposition and a possible new customer for the series (and maaaybe a “reward” sale from satisfied customers), but I cannot see the average publisher risking that much for a service of someone else, that yeah.
Sounds like i’ve got something to download tomorrow.
Game Pass list is weirdly late this time.
Also, is this an official picture?
Coming soon…TES VI, Indiana Jones etc
Here’s the new Game Pass games, finally announced:
Nice to see Spelunky 2 and the Pedestrian hit Xbox for the first time. And Mass Effect: LE is a fantastic addition, of course.
No, that isn’t official.
