Xbox Developer_Direct Showcase coming January 25th. Redfall, Forza Motorsport, ESO, and Minecraft Legends. Starfield show in the works

That, and they wouldn’t have put the support page online so early with the release date question, they know the fans pay close attention. We just have to wait and see if they mention Starfield during or close after the Direct.

I wouldn’t take that support page too seriously

Not saying it’s getting another delay even if I do expect it but a support page really doesn’t mean much

Well, they could have left out that question too. But you’re right, I shall not put too much hopes on that.

It’s impossible to comment on this without sounding pessimistic but the last three years don’t promote optimism.

Fact is, people are tired, I’m tired, for me this show is pivotal to how I feel about my Xbox from here on out, and by reading comments since yesterday, this is the case for many others as well.

I wish starfield being left out of this is false, they need to show what they got till December right now. The excuse till now has been “give them time”, time’s up, show what you got and give solid release dates or you’re gonna lose customers.

They completely skipped tga, waiting till June to get dates on games supposed to come out in less than 5 months is a horrible look.

This strategy could be a very good thing for studios like Arkane who’s games never communicate well in short trailers. Also for Forza Motorsport which will have many nuanced updates to the game engine. Pretty exciting way to start the year.

Starfield getting its own show makes sense. Would overshadow any mindshare the other games might get. Microsoft should let people know ahead of time though. Expectations going in will shape how people feel watching it.

If Starfield were to get as much time as the other games during the direct it would overshadow it. But if they just show a trailer at the end with announcement of dedicated Direct, perfect. Let people know beforehand and they will absolutely watch, because Starfield is there. And that way they see the other games too.

No, just till June, assuming this is the only show they do before E3

The reason people are so antsy is like you said, one big show each year and skipping the TGA’s doesn’t cut it

Starfield aside, I hope we get confirmation of Ghostwire Tokyo coming to Game Pass in March. Also would love to see another project on the scale of Pentiment getting announced.

To be honest, I’ll talk for me personally, I don’t care about number of shows, I care about games coming out and they’re just not.

If you guys remember, with the announcement of the delays last year, everyone was saying "in 2023 we could have 6 or 7 AAA exclusives coming out in one year, it’s gonna be a crazy year for Xbox ". It’s January of 2023 and we’re still waiting on dates for the two games that should be out last year, and motorsport which people said should come last year as well, and have zero info on anything else.

What was 2023 going to look like without redfall and starfield?

Anyway might be getting a bit ahead of myself but ms really isn’t making it easy for any of us. By the way the one AAA game per quarter is still out the window, while half way in the generation.

I expect the same thing as Deathloop

An expanded release with new content/QoL changes and releases on PS+ and Game Pass the same day

It is January 10th

Microsoft has a new marketing team with a new strategy. Won’t really get a feel for how it goes right off the bat. My bet is they’ll mix it up between deep dives, an E3 event where they’ll show off stuff from a lot of their 3rd party partners, and surprises. I’m looking at this year as a re-imagining of their marketing and messaging. With that, I’m not sure anything from the past will hold. Not even the 12 month rule from last E3.

Exactly my point.

Yeah this, I get it in the way they wouldn’t put it up if that was the case but also just because it says first half doesn’t mean that’s also true because I highly doubt they’re going to announce the delay in a support page entry.

I strongly think Hellblade 2 comes this year

If your concern is games then you’ll hear about it by the end of the month, which is exactly what we have been asking of Xbox.

If your concern is only Starfield it’ll likely be getting its own show with a 30+ minute Todd Howard’s style deep dive at a later date. Which is… also exactly what we have been asking of Xbox.

I think there’s a realistic chance. Either way, I’d expect more in the 2nd half of 2023 that we don’t know about. While I don’t necessarily expect every single thing shown last E3 to hit the 12 month promise (because in game development, delays have and will continue to always happen), what I’d take away from that intent is they expected to have a completely different lineup of games that would hit the next 12 months at this year’s show. Hellblade seems like a very good candidate.

While I’m also hoping that the end of the month things will be cleared up, cleared up meaning we’ll know if we should start being optimistic or not, because just redfall and motorsport won’t do it on their own. Starfield getting a date doesn’t need a 30 minute presentation, it’s 6 numbers, just throw it out there and also announce the deep dive, don’t need to hide the date longer
