Xbox announces Developer_Direct for January 18th - Indiana Jones, Avowed, Hellblade II and more

crap

The new Indiana Jones by ZeniMax Media will be released in 2024, sources close to the game tell Insider Gaming.

I don’t think Shadow Drops are going to be a thing after it hurt Hifi’s sales

This looks like a great lineup. Avowed is my most anticipated game from Xbox at the moment, I mean… it’s Obsidian.

Indy is a huge surprise! Will be interesting to see how the release schedule looks like for the year.

I really hope we at least get release windows. My gut tells me Hellblade 2 will be 1st half, but my brain is saying everything will be 2nd half.

If Indy actually releases this soon, I wonder if it’s a high quality, 10-15 hr experience. Honestly, that’s what I’d prefer. I want more games that drop the repetitive, time-wasting side quests (unless their actually putting thought into them, like Starfield).

Great line up in this Dev. Direct for me with Indy, Hellblade and Avowed being day 1s.

If these are indeed all 2024 releases then it’s a fantastic start to the year for Xbox.

Will be interesting to see if Indy is 1st or 3rd person or a mixture of both.

There’s a very good chance it will be exactly that. I don’t recall the Wolfie games outstaying their welcome. Perfect length.

Truthfully, that’s what makes the Uncharted games so fun. I don’t need this to be a clone by any means, but a palatable popcorn action game sounds perfect. We’ve been missing those in the AAA space recently. Guardians of the Galaxy was probably the last great one.

I could still see them doing it for certain things like experimental stuff or maybe multiplayer

I wonder if in HFR’s case the PR and accolades were a net positive for that game and the peception of the brand.

I really hope Indy is one of those games where you watch a cutscene then walk slowly at a predefined speed so that the characters can talk to each other about the cutscene you just watched. Then you enter a circular arena conveniently placed in your path to fight three waves of the same type of enemy. Then you slow walk again to talk about what just transpired before coming across a simple puzzle that your companion blurts out the solution to immediately. Then you enjoy another cutscene.

From what I am told, these types of games are everything that the industry should aspire to be!

Indy is gonna be awesome.

Btw for whatever reason not mentioned in the OP, but on wire.

Shortly after Developer_Direct has concluded, ZeniMax Online Studios will host The Elder Scrolls Online 2024 Global Reveal at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm UK, a standalone presentation where the development team will unveil the game’s next major Chapter, including the new zone, storyline, and other major features coming in the game’s biggest update this year.

This year ESO is celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary.

Can’t wait for the chapter reveal.

The game that keeps on giving, if the backlog was non existent I’d go for it.

No one knows yet. We’ll probably find out on the 18th.

Six months ago Nick said its a mixture of both. And not like Starfield that you get to pick whenever you want. More like sections/levels. One level or part being first and other parts third.

We have some good sources now strongly implying a 2024 release.
