Xbox announces Developer_Direct for January 18th - Indiana Jones, Avowed, Hellblade II and more

Probably it’s their next game after Hellblade 2, they can’t ship two games concurrently with the current size of their studio.

Even with betas, it’s very risky to not market them for at least a couple of weeks. I think HFR was a one-off situation.

I don’t think they will do a shadow drop but I do think they might show a secret fifth game that will release within the next few months

It is already good that they exfiltrated the ESO part from the Developer Direct.

I dont want a surprise shadowdrop. I want a surprise game reveal.

The only shadowdrop I would want is ABK games are now avialable on gamepass, but they told us no ABK news :frowning: I want to give Crash Rumble a spin if it’s on gamepass. Also, I want DIablo 4 on PC gamepass, so I can play it on my laptop and ROG Ally

Integrating Battle.net with your Xbox account for PC access and figuring out ports to the windows store like they did with Bethedsa is the most likely holdup

Yeah, some kind of Fallout 4 type situation, where at the end of a surprise reveal there’s a June release date.

I feel like that’s the best of both worlds. Create that excitement that comes with being shown a fully baked game we had no idea was coming, but still allowing the hype/marketing machine some time to generate demand.

there’s not going to be a shadow drop and people need to stop trying to guess at one lol

thanks for telling people not to discuss things on a forum. Isn’t it the purpose of a forum?

Yeah I agree. People should feel free to discuss such things as long as they aren’t weirdos about it (personally I haven’t seen any weird comments on this). Telling people not to discuss stuff in a rational manner is odd imo.

It’s very likely there won’t be one, but they did it last year, so people will speculate until proven wrong, I don’t see the issue.

I want a surprise gameplay showing of an already announced game (South of Midnight) but it’s probably unlikely as they would have revealed it ahead of time like Indy. If we get a surprise, it’ll be something we don’t already know about.

I think there’s a chance we get some kind of surprise, it doesn’t have to be a shadow drop but could be a reveal or DLC etc.

Really hyped for Avowed. There arent many high profile first person fantasy games.

Well, there is Fable which will be arguably bigger budget-wise considering thr studio and the IP, also South of Midnight (southern gothic is another type of fantasy), which I think will be smaller, but you’ll never know until is out.

I think if there’s a surprise game it’s not going to be something that’s already announced, plus I don’t think they will shadow drop anything this time around. I could see a smaller Double Fine game or that Project Suerte game from Certain Affinity (If Microsoft is even publishing it)

Fable isn’t first-person though, and South of Midnight isn’t an RPG.

I’m sure SoM will be smaller than something like Starfield, but I’m still expecting it to be a AAA 15-30 hour game that costs 70 dollars.

Shadow drops are risky for the titles sales. Specially if it is a new IP.

I think remasters are perfect for Shadow drops. Gamers will be known to the IP. Agree or not, shadow drop could become a reason to like Xbox platform.

Like the fallout one which Bethesda is officially doing.
