They only care about ABK because of the massive price tag and COD being a huge IP they recognize. Sega being sold for like 8B with a bunch of IP they don’t care about will pass without issue.

I think Tom jumped the gun on this in regards to out spend Sony and put them out of business, yes it was a massive list but so far nothing on that list has resulted in an aquistion for them, I wish Tom would have would have had a document of Sony aquistion targets before running with this

It seems like they were not planning to make Sega exclusive, which is how I always figured a JP publisher acquisition would go if it ever happened.

It is great to see MS was or possibly still looking at Crytek and Larian. Having Crytek work with id Software on a new game engine would be beautiful.
Then Larian helps show Xbox is the console for RPG.
It is interesting CDPR isn’t brought up though.
People Can Fly are working on an exclusive for Xbox, so if it does well I’d take a guess MS will acquire them.
Behaviour Interactive has worked with different Xbox Game Studios and Zenimax in the past, so they would fit nicely on the team.
Over all it really looks like there is many great potential studios that could join Microsoft and it will be very interesting to see what happens after ABK is done, plus where Xbox will be as a brand at the end of the Xbox Series X/S generation.

I figured this is what they’d do with a Japanese acquisition
Gets everything on Xbox/PC/GP but also ensures that the franchises can still grow everywhere, Nintendo is just too big in Japan to throw that audience away
The two standout independent developers that had no “risks” when it came to game development is Remedy, and People can fly. And it seems MS is very high on Paradox.

All these suggestions and monitoring by Microsoft , And people come and say Microsoft must be hostile
And this is the risks with the Sega acquisition. I do definitely think it would be tough to get Sega Sammy to let go of, well, Sega, for the reason shown, and the document seems to show that MS was not interested in just acquiring the entirety of Sega Sammy to divest it themselves. MS limited experience with JP acquisitions is also brought up.

I doubt Larian wants to be acquired, there is a video from 2-3 years ago of them speaking out against acquisitions with Sam Lake (Remedy) nodding.

On this list, some JP devs like Level 5 and JP Games made the list
However they didn’t make the final list
At this time Level 5 was no longer even releasing their games in the West and JP Games was (still is) unproven.

I don’t think the internet could handle Microsoft acquiring FromSoft, that would be such a holy shit moment if it ever happened.
