Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

And for some reason they release this funny pinball gacha game.

Honestly if they think their games are not global enough just look at how popular anime is in the west.

I still think Cygames would be a very interesting acquisition target for their mobile plans.

Conspiracy theory Sega bought Rovio Entertainment so they could look more enticing for Microsoft.

I think it is important that ABK is validated after all the time spent and all the efforts made. ABK will allow Xbox to grow rapidly and will have a positive impact on the future of Xbox.

Once ABK validated I hope like you that Microsoft will announce a series of acquisitions to make up for lost time. I think there’s a whole bunch of talented studios waiting to join the Xbox family. It’s time to do like 2018 and prepare for the next generation of Xbox studios. I think it’s important not to lose the opportunity to acquire them, as was the case with Bungie or Crystal Dynamics.

A lot of those seem plausible after abk still like striking distance.

There is a lack of japanese and polish studios. Kinda surprising.

Striking Distance are now owned by Krafton

Ahh my bad.

I think it is fair to say MS has looked at almost all relevant studios in the AAA/AA space. They fact that the analysed over 1000 mobile studios for acquisitions should tell us all about the scale of their M/A.

Going by what’s been leaked another mobile publisher seems very likely, with a few traditional AAA/AA studios thrown in.

Always expected Sega to be something they were interested in, nice to have confirmation

I think if they are to get a Japanese acquisition after ABK, they will be the most likely as they cover everything they want, just like ABK, just on a smaller scale and appeal to Asia more

Daily Reminder: ABK was landed on their lap, like a flying lucky hat landed on a guy’s head.

For JP, many of the devs that are this size are already owned, very small and not that global (NIS, Falcom for example), or are sizeable like CC2 or Platinum but don’t come with any IP. Sega has it all, IP. studios, mobile (even before Rovio) so maybe MS thought the Sega package was good enough?

Was that comment even about acquisitions specifically? Seems like Matt was saying they have the money to eat the losses that would come from trying to grow Xcloud and Game Pass with day and date first party releases.

Anything they might have went for went out the window when they came along, at least for the time being as they are literally the perfect acquisition for MS long term goals

This could be the case, but it’s not certain that a Sega deal would happen.

And for smaller studios, I mean they acquired Compulsion Games and a studio like Falcom or Tri-Ace would be much more interesting.

Remember, the regulators basically threw those comments away, its not new or anything.

Aside from that, Sega is a good fit and it could still happen, depending on the regulatory climate. After that though, aside from maybe the essentials such as Crystal Dynamics, Eidos, Certain Affinity, Asobo, and IOI, they should be good

I’m glad MS didn’t buy all those studios that are coming out. Except for IOI

CC2 has the FUGA (Little Tail) IP, it’s not huge, but neither was Hellblade at the time, and CC2 seems very interested in Xbox. I think they are developing a game in collaboration with XGP and I won’t be surprised if they join the family. It would be a great complement to SEGA. Xbox needs studios like CC2 who are ready to defend the brand with love and passion.

Would you look at that… something something I told y’all. Clearly, Microsoft put Sega at the top of their acquisition target (multiple times now) for a reason… so maybe all those “Sega has no value” and “Xbox wouldn’t bother with Sega” commentators have something to say now?
