I thought the prequel game was okay, wasn’t made by Rabbit and Bear though and was just a Kickstarter reward thing. Super excited to see the main game and I’m hoping they have a multi-game story planned like Falcom’s Trails games (which the world reminds me of too).
Is there something stopping Microsoft from investing in The Pokemon Company? Perhaps they could become a shareholder and bring their games to Xbox and PC.
SEGA + Capcom for Japan push, then stick with just studio buyouts, pick up IOI, Asobo, the studio making the Halo BR game that I know I’ll mix up with the other one and a few more and they’re groovy.
Trying to mess with the Pokemon ownership won’t go well.
Nintendo owns the trademark to the Pokemon name as well as every character/pokemon themselves

Basically you have to play by Nintendo’s rules if you want to do anything with the IP and you can bet that putting it on anything that isn’t Nintendo or mobile is an absolute no-go lol.
If it were possible to touch this then it would have long happened
Capcom is doing very well. Maybe you don’t play those games but a lot of people do. With Street Fighter coming out soon I see them continue their success.
Funnily enough the most recent popular/success HiFi Rush is literally a clone of Devil May Cry. Some of the moves are even straight lifted from the latest DMC game.
I think most people like Capcom games they maybe just haven’t played them.
i like embracer, but i think the deal with take much time as abk, since embracer is giant for europe, also i don’t think they have a reason to be acquired by anyone since they are going fine. other point, ms wants to focus on asian markets so I don’t think embracer is good for it
Just pluck CD, EM, Gearbox, and Flying Wild Hog Embracer Group and I’m good.
Well to be fair the reason Hi Fi Rush is so much like DMC is because it was made by the people who created DMC and Viewtiful Joe etc. Tango ( and Platinum for that matter) are made up of ex Clover studios ( Capcom) people after all. But yeah I agree with your point. Capcom is not a publisher you sleep on. When it comes to action games, especially of the third person variety few can compete. People need to put some respect on their name.
still falls the rule of embracer how wants to sell owned studios
Capcom IMO have some of best (maybe even the best full stop) developers in the world.
It’s crazy how good their output has been in recent years & how fast they are as well. Just look at the RE series: RE7 in 2017, RE2 Remake in 2019, RE3 Remake in 2020, RE Village in 2021, RE4 Remake in 2023. That’s 5 of the best games of this era at a time when other publishers struggle to get a single title out of the door.
Out of that lot I consider RE7, Village & 4 Remake to be 3 of the best games made in recent years across all platforms & genres. Graphically, technically, animations, gameplay, AI, level design, art design etc. are just top notch. From Software are also great (& very consistent with their releases).
But as long as these companies are run well & there’s no danger of PS coming in & moneyhatting exclusivity away from Xbox, I don’t see why Microsoft should acquire any of them (except to fill Game Pass, maybe).
Which ones? I think most publishers have released multiple great games since 2017.
Sega did move forward with acquiring Rovio
I agree with your thoughts here, but I would go a step further and add one of embracer’s many publisher arms my preference would be THQ Nordic. Then pick the studios you want I would pick Crystal Dynamics, Eidos,Gunfire Games, Flying wild Hog,Gearbox, Tripwire and lastly 4A games and of course the correlating IP. To me this is the only and best option for any acquisition of embracer as the whole of the publisher is not worth the cost or headache. Embracer has a very strange business model and in my opinion still functions as a holding company more than a game publisher this would give Xbox another nice little publisher without a ton of scrutiny for less than 2.5 billion I would guess. Obviously 7 more studios would be fantastic for gamepass and would probably bring a bigger drop of old titles into gamepass then zenimax did.
Sega acquired Rovi, around $775 million. Press Release @ https://www.segasammy.co.jp/cms/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/20230417_aquisition_e.pdf
Need to update that MS x Sega
Sega really does not strike me as a company that wants or needs to sell (not to mention, the huge amount of baggage that comes with Sammy, and I definitely think Sammy isn’t interested in parting with Sega) and I’m not a believer at all of this “fattening up to look more attractive” thing (nor the “slimming down to look more attractive” thing people said about Square Enix) stuff. I’m happy if MS just keeps their good relationship with Sega going.
Not to be negative or anything but who?
A Naruto and other licensed anime games developer. Nothing important
