IG might have assisted but ND themselves have said it was done in house
This is on them but really its on Sony for releasing a terrible port too early trying to capitalise on the tv show hype

Sony doing with PC ports what they claimed Microsoft would do with CoD lol
Iron Galaxy did a great job with killer instinct. I actually hope Xbox acquires them to focus on that IP indefinitely
I actually preferred the first developers that were acquired by Amazon. However I think Iron Galaxy was beginning to get there in making it their own.
Double Helix in purgatory forever.
Nah
The time it takes for XGS to release a AAA game (for good reasons) makes me think that MS isn’t going back to small acquisitions for a while. Bethesda has released more games than the studios acquired by MS in 2018-2019, yes they are games that have already been in production before but in the end what counts is the output. If CDPR is going to release multiple games that have not yet announced platforms in the 4-5 years left of the generation, I see MS more interested in them than buying Asobo and/or IOI that have to comply with multi-platform contracts.
Why would only AAA game studios be their target? I saw how enthusiastic they were about Grounded and how it took off despite not being AAA. I would expect that Microsoft will look to increase odds of catching fire with AA titles in addition to their current AAA stable of studios.
Studios like Supergiant and ThatGameCompany make a lot of sense to me.
I think this just reflects buying multiple studios at once and the fact that games can often take several years to develop one game - as you just as equally have a team like Obsidian who has released multiple games under Xbox and multiple studios within Bethesda who haven’t released any (including Bethesda Game Studios itself).
Plus, realistically buying a publisher is highly dependent on the publishers timing - you might find there’s plenty of time to buy several studios before the next publisher even becomrd available.
You’re probably right about the number of employees. Despite the many advantages that Ubisoft represents, I must admit that the number of employees is enormous. I don’t know how much Xbox wants to grow, but that’s obviously something to consider. This represents 2 times Activision or 3 times Capcom + SEGA. So I can understand that argument. However, I would still find it a shame to miss Ubisoft at this price and with a service like GP. If Microsoft misses out on Ubisoft, I hope it’s to acquire SEGA and Capcom in Japan. I could handle that lol
You are tough on Iron Galaxy. Rumbleverse wasn’t bad and they also worked on Metroid Prime Switch and a lot of Capcom/Activision games. It’s a studio that could be useful to Xbox.
I fear what going for staff that high would mean on more developer acquisitions. Ubisoft has about 45 studios. They have more staff and studios than Zenimax, XGS and ABK put together. I think it would be best to build a contract partnership with them say to have them work or collaborate with Microsoft studios. Microsoft could also invest and buy up say 25% or more of Ubisoft to gain a say in the running of the business. Sega, I think is the best bet for the next acquisitions. they could really use Microsoft’s muscle to once again sail high with some of the best IPs in the industry and who knows maybe even bring back a next gen GameGear.
We’re still waiting for Ubisoft+ on Xbox as well. It keeps on being rumored as an imminent release, yet so far… nothing. Now we hear it could land mid-April.
Ubisoft would basically make complete sense because their library of titles is absolutely enormous. And that’s what Microsoft is securing, i.e. content for the subscription service. Bethesda & Activision both have massive libraries so I think we can assume the next target will be something similar, i.e. it’s all about the content.
If the Activision deal goes through under the premise of content remaining multiplatform, then Microsoft essentially can get anyone they want under those terms just to fill Game Pass with more quality.
I think back catalog is important, but new content is the real driver of a service. Ubisoft has been completely failing in that front in the last couple years and really needs to get it together before companies look at their massive work force seriously.
I have no idea what happened but the Market cap of Bandai Namco went from over 14 Billion USD over night to little under 5 Billion USD. I would really love for Microsoft to choose Bandai Namco as the next Acquisition target. Tekken 3 was my favorite fighting game in the PS1 era and the new Tekken looks fire.
I’d very much like to find out the metrics used for the market cap as that’s a huge difference.
I also see Take Two being around 20$ but I feel like that doesn’t include Zynga.
That guy is always wrong
I know just posting for the laughs lol
I dont know what happened, but it should still be around 15 billion. Just the website would be my guess.
