Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

I actually think it includes Zynga. The prices were crazy during the pandemic but has adjusted.

Ah maybe that’s it. Thanks for the info.

As for this guy talking about WBD…… lol not him again.

Maybe it’s really an error on the website. But imagine if they really lost so much on value, they would be a prime acquisition target for Microsoft. They would finally get a really great fighting game developer and some great JRPG developers.

And they also have a pretty big mobile presence with their Anime games. And maybe when Blue Protocol releases, this could be their Genshin Impact.

Isn’t that the guy that said Sony were going to buy like 7 different publishers around the time the ABK deal was announced :phil_lmao:

He said Sony was buying take 2 i believe, and in the last said Sony was buying two other publishers. Not a good source

lf the price for Namco is really around 5 billion, then Microsoft has to buy them.

Plus they then get the IP Enslaved, which was Ninja Theory’s Horizon, before Horizon came out.

So we would have a chance at a sequel.

Spending 5 billion to make a sequel for Enslaved is a bold move but I dug that game so I’m into it

Regardless of how much Iron Galaxy was actually involved with porting TLOU Part 1 to PC, I agree that Microsoft should stay far away. Their track record is not good at all, even if you factor in the 2 seasons they did for KI which were solid. Rumbleverse shut down just 6 months after it launched and Extinction was just terrible.

dont quote this guy. he is never correct

Spend 5 Billion to make a sequel to a IP that flop, hmmm… This is why company’s rarely listen to people. For every good idea there is a million bad one’s LOL.

There are other factors besides money to consider.

You do know that wouldn’t be the reason to buy them.

In the past I’ve said Namco Bandai would be a good company to buy, because you get JRPG and fighter developers as an example.

I just singled out an IP that could be great under Microsoft. I’m not even saying it would return, just that it could be their answer to what PlayStation has.

I don’t know if Microsoft will manage to acquire in Japan, but for me the perfect combo would be Capcom + SEGA. On the one hand you have Japanese role-playing games (Persona, SMT, Like a Dragon, Judgment), strategy games (Total War, Two Point, COH, Endless Saga, Football Manager), games for everyone (Sonic, Monkey Ball, Samba de Amigo) with SEGA, and on the other you have horror games (Resident Evil, Dino Crysis), action games (DMC, Onimusha, Pragmata, Dragon’s Dogma, Exoprimal), hunters monster games, 2D platform games (Megaman, Ghost and Goblins), fighting games (Street Fighter, Darkstalkers) with Capcom. Everything you need to meet the needs of Xbox and cover all the genres of games missing from the first party catalog. In addition, they are publishers of moderate size (about 3,000 employees) and cost (from 3 to 5 billion), so no worries related to the management of employees or the validation of the deal by the authorities. Especially since recent documents have highlighted Sony’s dominance and aggressive practices in Asia. So I don’t know if Xbox will be able to take advantage of it to acquire one or more publishers in Asia (of course it depends on several factors), but I think Microsoft would be in a very advantageous situation by acquiring these two publishers. And then, it would be the opportunity to have a SEGA vs Capcom fighting game, so what more could you ask for? Honestly, I think it’s the publisher acquisition scenario that excites me the most, and you can complement it with acquisitions of independent studios (Asobo, IOI, Certain Affinity…) because the number of employees is reasonable (unlike a publisher like Ubisoft which would drastically reduce the acquisition of small independent studios). So even if it’s ultimately quite unlikely to happen, I absolutely want to see SEGA and Capcom join the Xbox family. There are multiple possible editors and scenarios, but this one is by far my favorite. Fingers crossed that it happens, we could all celebrate together.

I really like where you are going with the Capcom and Sega combo.

So all I can say

No doubt Sega and capcom would be a solid duo. Microsoft has focused on one publisher at a time so I don’t see them going for a duo. also rumors were they almost got Capcom last gen but Capcom refused to bite at the last minute. Now that capcom is doing well even increased workers pay I doubt they would sell. Best bet is Sega that has been working closer with Microsoft and even have partnership with Azure. Sega’s IPs are just as good if not better than Capcom at least potential wise. I think if they get Sega and sign something like a billion-dollar deal with Capcom for games that would be better. They should probably also look to south Korea a growing market that i think could be poised to overtake Japan. Korea is certainly moving towards that cinematic third person action driven games more and are beginning to explore the lore from their traditions in their games which is pretty exciting.

Haha, I don’t even consider Sega + Capcom as being an option. Absolute best case is one of those.

If MS is gonna look to Japan/Asia for more acquisitions, I think they will go hard

I don’t think they are interested in a few random studios here and there, they want something that has a guaranteed impact and a big one

Would they go for both Sega+Capcom, I can’t see that happening but one of the two? Very likely, if not one of them then another publisher

I think there’s a lot of great options with Japanese publishers, I don’t think they can go far wrong whatever direction they go - my only specific thought on Capcom is that I don’t think we’ve seen any particular indication that they want to sell or that they have any particularly strong relationship with Microsoft. Of course, that doesn’t mean they won’t - we totally would have said the same about Activision just a few years ago, just seems less likely than some of the alternatives.
