I think either by the end of the year or in the beginning of the year the floodgate of acquisitions from other players will open. If it won’t happen then it confirms that everybody is waiting for ABK deal to close.
Oh my goodness. Embracer has been infected with SquareEnix’s “did not meet expectations” through the last Acquisition! They shouldn’t have picked up SE West.
Grrrr… damn you ABK acquisition!
Well, I am more surprised that SR met any expectations considering the state it was launched
We need Amazon to acquire EA and Tencent to acquire Ubisoft to do a fatality on you
Granted it seems Amazon is out of big gaming game for now.
Tencent/Amazon buying Ubisoft would be a kick to the …
Not that fussed about EA, however Respawn would have been awesome though.
I do wonder if Mass Effect / Dragon Age flops then EA would be willing to sell Bioware Granted if those games flop, I won’t be able to see much value in Bioware either Unlike Blizzard, I think, more talent left Bioware over the years.
Yep it’s a shame, I can’t remember the last Bioware game I played. It will be interesting to see what the Ex-Bioware guys develop with Infinity Ward.
The reason I often mention EA is because their games are huge, I just personally don’t enjoy most of them, even though most my friends play either FIFA, Madden or Sims.
Ubisoft and Focus Entertainment however do publish games I really enjoy .
It is actually amazing - if you think about it - how much talent ABK has. Even when some people left due to internal issues, there are still a lot of people working there in various studios that - unlike Bioware - did not lose much in quality.
In general Microsoft studios have a lot of legendary developers.
I like Sims too.
They are also hearing the people asking for a new legacy of kain, that would be huge but now I fear that they will be absorbed by gearbox
Unless those games are huge flops in sales then I dont see a reason why ea would sell it, afterall ea doesnt care if a game is highly praised or if millions of gamers are playing it, they just care about the sales
If ubisoft isnt a possibility then they definitely need to go for focus, they could bring a ton of attractive titles to xbox by publishing games like evil west or atomic heart, also dotemu is such a gem, I want them on a new battletoads or any forgotten game from the 90s that xbox owns
I sunk so much time into Kain on the Dreamcast, brilliant game, however I suspect you’re right it will likely be swallowed by Gearbox.
100% agree with your Ubisoft/Focus thoughts. DotEmu are brilliant, also if Xbox also own the Plague Tale IP perhaps Asobo might finally be convinced to join Xbox.
I am curious as to the state of Creative Assembly. They’ve been working on Halo for years and yet are still third party. Does anyone think they could get acquried?
How many people would actually player the Legacy Of Kain though?
Focus Home is able to find nice games but they don’t own much.
They are owned by Sega.
I am not sure, but there is a possibility, I mean thq gave 2 remakes to destroy all humans so anything could happen, but surely it could had a bigger chance under xbox
Every publisher start like that at some point, and it could be a good place to have other studios like asobo
True, but the point for Microsoft is to acquire King not to acquire Savage Studios When Focus becomes big and meaty enough, Microsoft might be interested in it - but for now I don’t see it happening.
Would be hilarious if Focus acquires Asobo. Some people here would grind their teeth over that
Thats Certain Affinity.
Damn. I read only the first part of the message
Oh thank you. I got confused.
Thank you, it’s a pleasure to discuss with you all. I understand your point of view on some of these studios, although I think they could become better by joining the Xbox family. I only referenced the studios that have already worked with Microsoft (to be “organic”), but there are of course other extremely interesting studios which prove that Microsoft can continue to make great acquisitions without necessarily acquiring a publisher. So, even if I am 100% for Ubisoft (which would bring a lot of things), I will still be very happy if Microsoft announces the acquisition of a dozen of their partner studios.
Neon Giant is gone, but Krafton might be interesting to expand into Korea. I have long been in favor of Pearl Abyss, but none of their projects announced years ago have yet been released. If The Callisto Protocol is successful, it might be worth paying more attention to Krafton. Especially since PUBG works very well on mobile…
Square Enix would be really unexpected lol
Regarding the audience… I think the GP and PC release would be enough for these games to be successful (worldwide).
Yes Take Two is the best choice after ABK if we focus on mobile. If Microsoft managed to acquire Take Two, it would be in a really comfortable position for the future, but given what’s going on with ABK, I doubt Take Two will be next.
I share your opinion. Discussions on ABK become long and tiring. Can’t wait to see the next acquisition(s).
Focus is really not terrible, I doubt that Microsoft is interested, and I think it will be acquired by Embracer (with Nacon). But I hope that Microsoft will fight for Ubisoft. This is clearly the publisher that Microsoft needs and I will be extremely disappointed if Microsoft misses this opportunity.
It could happen, but is xbox, we are never sure about their next move, and personally I will love having another publisher to bring diversity to xbox portfolio, also I really want to see the guys at dotemu havig a bigger budget tbh
To be fair they also helped with halo wars 2 so there is that ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Same, even if they dont get my favorites, I will still be hyped for the newcomers no matter what
It could, but ms isnt the type of player that wants to turn most games into exclusives, but I agree
It could even help steam deck on that region
I hope for a bright future to focus, even if they dont join xbox, and ubisoft isnt the publisher that ms needs, is the perfect choice for xbox entire business, gamepass/pc/cloud/support studios/ expansion worldwide/ crazy development power/iconic ips/ etc
I personally want to see studios such as ubisoft paris and quebec having complete freedom for their next titles, I want to see more developers out from the assasins creed jail(it could also help the franchise having smaller titles), I want to see what they could do with the other studios
Seriously, the guys behind mario + rabbids aee interested in banjo, thats a perfect team for the game right there
