Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

Stay away from Platinum. You don’t want to have to constantly worry about what Kamiya is going to say, plus they made a bad TMNT game which should’ve been no-brainer amazing and that’s like a slap in my face :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

CDPR feels like a company that to me is going to be doing the acquiring then being acquired themselves (for now).

Can’t help but feel like they’ll eventually buy up the studio that’s working on the witcher remake.

People always bring up TMNT and Korra for arguing against Platinum. Now there’s no getting around it, they made a shit game. However, I can’t put the blame on them completely since both of those games were licensed from none other than Nickelodeon who is notorious for not putting any proper budget, or reasonable development time behind there games. Nickelodeon All-Star brawl being the latest example. Also, just in case people forgot, the publisher Activision wasn’t the best either who is also notorious for running licensed games into the ground. Think they hold the all time record with the most annualized bad Spider-Man games.

Now I guess you could say you reap what you sow since you knew it was going to be a bad product from the start. But sometimes you gotta do what is necessary to keep the lights on. Ninja Theory did the same thing, they worked on Disney Infinity for a number of years to make it through there financial troubles.

Not so sure on cdpr as they have bled a lot of talent and it seems like they are announcing project after project.

Sometimes it’s best to follow the talent otherwise you could end up purchasing something like bioware which isn’t the same company anymore.

I’ve been seeing a lot of rumors lately going around saying that Sony has approached CDPR multiple times trying to acquire them, it’s probably more likely that those rumors aren’t real but you never know these days, with how close they’ve been with Microsoft for so many years I always thought that if they would sell that they would end up being acquired by Microsoft,
of course Bungie was also a Microsoft 1st party studio at some point and look at how that turned out.

That rumor is kinda scary to me because I really like the Witcher games and Cyberpunk 2077 and I would be sad to see them miss Xbox in the future as that is where I’ve been playing CDPR games since Witcher 2.

You know what I find funny is that a CDPR acquisition by Sony is one that probably should raise more concerns to regulators with how dominant PlayStation is in Europe and CDPR being one of the biggest developers in Europe, maybe the biggest one behind Rockstar even.

The source is probably not a good source but here it is: Sony Has Allegedly Approached CD Projekt Red "Multiple Times" For Possible Acquisition - eXputer.com

Good night…that part of the post was jest…but seriously, how can you make a bad TMNT action game? Budget or not, all the pieces are there for an amazing game! I stand by the Kamiya comment though, dude is a problem.

He is, ain’t denying that. Still disagree with TMNT though

And you’re still wrong :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Anyway, no Platinum for me!

Yikes!

Cowabunga! Glad I’m not the only one!

Clicked on the link, seeing Rythian as a source, info dismissed.

The Square Enix and CDPR Sony rumors always seem like desperate fanboy “responses” to Xboxs acquisitions.

Just a quick glance at his twitter he had made so many predictions in just 1 week. Apperently Sony sas going to buy a chinese developer this week, and has been been constantly teasing several Sony game publisher acquisitions. I remember him teasing so much stuff that has never happened.

With Xbox increased aim at becoming a big mobile developer and making their own mobile store, I wonder if that was was jez corden was alluding to in a previous podcast about “a new initiative that needs games”.

I still on the camp Xbox next big acquisition is a mobile developer.

They bought King

The question is who, I still think they will go after one more mobile publisher after King too.

  • Netease (unlikely as it’s a Chinese company).
  • Garena (unlikely as its owned by a Singapore ISP).
  • Cygames (maybe)
  • Zynga (prior to the T2 acquisition I would say the most likely).
  • miHoYo (unlikely as it’s a Chinese company)
  • Niantic (unlikely IMO).
  • EA Mobile (unlikely IMO)
  • Roblox Corp (unlikely IMO)

think it’s for the best that Microsoft for now sorts out the activision deal before focusing on what they want to do next in mobile, they have a lot on their plate as it is.
