Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

Koei would definitely be an option but I don’t think it’s big enough for what MS are after, I think if MS are going to Asia, they are going to go big

and while price really isn’t an issue for MS anymore, they are nearly the same price as Capcom which is crazy to me considering the IP difference between the two

So they will go for someone like ubisoft with their focus on more live service titles, also that they have titles such as rainbow and for honor

But anyways anything can happen

Ubisoft is too low for almost 10b premium. And I think Tencent is really interested in Ubisoft.

I still suspect that it is will be some japanese company (especially considering that MBS bought SNK). Maybe Konami?

Doesnt Tencent already own a significant amount of Ubisoft which would make their remaining price to outright buy them even lower.

They have a minority. And 49% in the company that owns big part of Ubisoft.

Or capcom

Got tired of hearing about how Xbox has only bought there way to success while sony built there from the ground up.

Here is a list of studios sorted by created internally versus thru acquisition

The difference is only 8 to 6 internally create studios. Thats not a large gap

studios grow thru acquisition. tale as old as time

Don’t even think it matters anymore. Disney bought their way to Star Wars, Avatar and Marvel. The response should be “so what?” …unless Kratos outsells Call of Duty this holiday.

It’s probably also worth pointing out that Studio Liverpool aka Psygnosis was one of the two largest publishers in Europe at the time.

Both publishers (Psygnosis and Ocean) had their HQ’s in Northern England. Sony (Japan) purchased Psygnosis and then Infogrames (France) purchased Ocean. It had a massive impact on game development in the UK.

I too had fun imagining what Microsoft Gaming could be like in a few years. This is of course a subjective vision, but which could be interesting in order to develop in Asia or to develop organically with partner studios. I also tried to balance the edit branches and keep some consistency. Regarding Activision, Blizzard, and Capcom, I favor internal expansion rather than the acquisition of new studios. I added 2 publishers and 15 studios to the Microsoft Gaming branch. Which makes a total of about sixty studios for the Microsoft Gaming branch, which seems to me quite correct for Microsoft’s strategy and the development of varied and regular content.

Really enjoying people’s custom lists of who they’d like MS to get and where they’d put those studios. Fingers crossed we get a few more of those.

Let’s see what crazy news this week brings.

I mean, in 2020 it was wild to imagine that xbox was going to add 2 publishers to their portfolio

Sony acquired Psygnosis, a game publisher, in 93.

Nvm: it’s under the closed section.

You forgot about king

It is listed under Activision and not separately.

That seems way too strong for one company. We should apply some nerfs and have to choose between sega or capcom. Both is unfair.

These rational facts won’t matter to hay Sayers

They will move the goal post to there liking

I like the graphic, But I think King becomes its own arm and takes on additional mobile studios from the other units (doesn’t Bethesda publishing have a mobile studio?)
