Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

This is very very interesting. Is this just on the Playstation App or are there other areas this is on.

Source required for this statement “denied Microsoft” or is this just your guess? From what I can find, no one knows anything definitive other than assuming Microsoft not wiling to pay the Google Tax of 30% of the sales through the app.

Thinking about it, I definitely mixed this up with somethings from the apple court case, specifically how Microsoft was actually going to look into following along with apples every game must be its own app to be in the store. I think my thought was something along the lines of Google having a similar policy, but them allowing game pass streaming app on the store would say otherwise.

I have been saying for ages that Sony + Google Stadia is an unholy union made in heaven. PS uses Linux based OS and Stadia uses one. And they both hate Microsoft :joy:

Remember somebody on Twitter predictedd that Tencent will become more aggressive. Sony will have to align itself with some tech giant or they won’t survive.

And that makes ABK deal even more important and amazing for Microsoft.

With Stadia being officially killed off, do you think there is any chance MS could buy the tech from Google?

If not that, there now is many displaced game developers and games that if MS was to give a helping hand they could bring to the Xbox brand of consoles.

I feel like doing that would lead to goodwill within the gaming community.

It would be more advantageous for them if another company bought the tech, but it is probably going to the Google graveyard

Baldurs Gate 3 to Xbox

Aside me not expecting Google to sell Stadia tech at all (much less to Microsoft), I think just poaching some engineers will be enough - whole Stadia tech relied heavily on the custom ports of the games while xCloud relies on the basic Xbox ports.

Well, a lot of devs (like Kojima) and games (like High on Life) were former Stadia exclusives no?

That is true and I was thinking like have the exclusive Pixeljunk game now come to Xbox.

I think a lot of devs might come to Xbox. Microsoft and Xbox are just too attractive and accumulate a lot of good will.

That would be awesome and hopefully open.the doors to a future Larian purchase too.

That would be amazing for Microsoft. The governments can stop saying Microsoft will have a monopoly for cloud streaming and cloud tech.

Google would be preferred for sure.

Wow!! Buckle up!

Didn’t google say they would license it?

Yeah, they will try to sell it as a whitelabel service.

That was last year. I assume they’re shutting it all down next year. Everything will be dead, including White Label Stadia. It could be a situation where they are in process of server upgrades and instead of needing expensive and power hungry GPUs its better overall to just use integrated GPUs of the CPUs. Lower power consumption and heat footprints in all their datacenters are worth more than a lackluster service.

I am not sure. I do think that PS Now on Stadia would be pretty neat.
