Xbox Acquisition |OT| - So We’re Back to Making Lists, Huh?

Microsoft is hunting for a big social network platform. Funny enough that’s actually one of the biggest reason why MS is not a target of anti trust unlike Facebook, Apple, ect.

not like they want to experience another one since the last one almost broke the company up.

I don’t I mentioned this before but in regards to Sega, (in a not too serious way) Xbox is considered the spiritual successor to the Sega consoles in Japan. Of all the Japanese publishers/studios to acquire I think Sega would be the most accepted or welcomed by the Japanese market.

The last big one was LinkedIn or did I miss something ?

no i mean when they were the subject of an anti trust around the year 2001.

Now they would be together with Facebook, Amazon, Alphabet & Apple and holding hands to fight anti trust. :phil_lmao:

I don’t think they need to buy Bungie when they can make deals to put their games on gamepass. Then again you could say they’re expanding because they know they have a cushion to land on which is Microsoft swooping them if they end up in trouble.

First Stalker is still a legendary game that we remember.

I think MS will be fine. MS is very cozy with the governments across the worlds.

Well… except the Agency.

Microsoft is fine because they don’t have a big casual-consumer social media platform. LinkedIn and Xbox are definitely for a specific audience which is much smaller in comparison with Facebook, YouTube, ect. If they would for whatever reason acquiring Tiktok or Pinterest, Microsoft would definitely be a target of anti-trust.

Not really. The reason why the companies are the target of the anti-trust is because if the influence.

MS will be fine because to become a target of anti-trust TikTok should completely supersede other media platforms. It won’t happen.

In the first place Windows was a target of anti-trust not because it had an operating system, but because it used operating system as a way to influence and destroy other companies/technologies/browsers whatever.

Google is a target of anti-trust not because it has a search. Amazon is target of anti-trust is not because they own a marketplace. Facebook is not a target of anti-trust because they own a social network. And Apple is not the target of anti-trust because they make phones.

Like for example Google is not the target of anti-trust due to having Google Market on Android. Because it does not leverage it like Apple, who uses its marketplace to make apps similar to the ones they are selling for example.

I think MS are done with publishers. They dont need that amount of staff. I think we see them go after well known independent studios instead

Then why are they more than doubling the staff of almost every studio?

With any new publisher you’re talking thousands more employees and divisions MS dont have a need for. The Zenimax acquisition was to build a solid foundation for thier vision. Was more defensive if anything

But Satya and Phil have both said otherwise…

How will they really go after the PC market without a significant add in that space? I think it’s why they were talking with Paradox. Paradox already has agreements with Microsoft for gamepass so anything else would be for day 1 games and potentially acquisitions to work on their Microsofts big IP like Age of Mythology and Rise of Nations.

Hmmm suppose Paradox makes sense.
