Will Bethesda Games be Xbox Console Exclusive?

I feel with everything Microsoft these so called insiders hype up every event so much that it ends up leaving most people disappointed. I swear the insiders never do this with other company events unless its Microsoft. i think its best to keep low expectations and just assume its just an introduction video of Bethesda joining Microsoft

I think the problem is these events have been hyped up w/o substance. It’s not like Microsoft has surprise blown us away with a new game reveal that was a Zelda: BOTW type game. I think Xbox fans are legit hungry for that type of moment again.

They should be exclusive period. Makes sense from a business standpoint and show commitment to your userbase.

I thought people are hungry for gameplay

So Danny Pena seems to believe Starfield will be exclusive, Andrea Rene seems to believe it isn’t.

There have been more reasons to believe it will than reasons it won’t, but say it isn’t…I’ll still love the fact it being on GP immediately, but I’ll also have to wonder what the fuck they are doing. I definitely will be glad once it’s all out there.

I think to have any XGS games have only a ‘timed exclusive’ period is a huge betrayal. The only major PS4 game that went to XB1 in recent memory was Nier: Automata.

ColtEastwood had a interesting part in his video today. He said that some people say “would Xbox really throw away all that hard work on the PS5 version of Starfield?” to which Colt said, that games are built on PC first and foremost and then ported to console. So how much work really is it at all.

Fuck man, I’m just going to say it.

If everything is multiplat, even if it’s multiple year timed exclusive, I really have no idea what the fuck Xbox is doing.

It’s an ugly can of worms to open that I think would open alot of “Why is this exclusive, but not that” that I don’t think Phil and others have answers for.

Agreed. At the end of the day the games being exclusive or not doesn’t affect me, but damn would I think MS weren’t shortsighted if they release them multiplatform.

I just think it would be - - - -

A.) Incredibly bad move considering the moves Sony is making to actively keep games away from Xbox.

B.) Does nothing to eliminate the “Xbox has no games narrative”. In fact it would only make it worse. Microsoft would be deservedly be laughed at on social media.

At the end of the day content is king, it’s why Sony is so aggressive with time exclusives, it’s why Nintendo is such a power house, and it will be the reason that Game Pass and Xbox will be do great this Gen. So having your content on your rival consoles makes no sense, and it is why I think that Bethesda games will be exclusive. It’s also not like Xbox is making it impossible to play these games, as Xcloud is getting its Series X upgrade, and it will available on phones, PC, and Smart TVs.

As we get ever so close to knowing the truth I am still stumped.

Logically they will be exclusive but Xbox scares me sometimes :joy::skull:

It weird how if this was Sony there would be absolutely no question on exclusivity, but now even some of us with Microsoft are like “I don’t know man. They really might be that clueless”

I know right :joy:

I think that big mistake they did with the Gold Membership made me doubt them a little :joy:

Hopefully logic steps in and they make the right choice :innocent:

Honestly, guys you should stop with the Gold thing. Yes, it was done in a very clumsy way, but even that had a goal behind it. Again not saying it was good, but it was more than just hiking prices up for the lolz. They reverted back on it meaning they are also listening to the community, where they could have chosen not to.

However, we shouldn’t forget also all the good decisions they have taken to get Xbox where it is now. Sony can also make bad decisions like putting their first-part games prices higher, yet I don’t see anybody complaing about that. I won’t pretend to know what MS is doing, but their decision for Zenimax will be the one they thought of when they engaged the acquisition process with them.

They made mistakes but I can’t imagine them doing this. Because this is not how you get Game Pass growth…at all.

They know better than anyone how to run a subscription service, so they will take decisions according to that.

What’s your opinion? Exclusive or no?

I Don’t mean to dwell on the Gold thing and in all honesty I don’t I think it’s just because it’s still recent news it will be all forgotten about in a month.

Yeah I agree Xbox can make a slight slip up and it trends on Twitter (not in a good way) where as Sony has hiked PS+ I am pretty sure about 2 or 3 times? And nothing… I actually expected a back lash on Sony for the Video game price hike but alas nothing

Should be noted All Access is no money down too. The $35/$25 per month is paid retroactively. The marketing could be absurdly compelling along with things like Starfield and Halo and whatever else they have planned.

The most important argument on the entire topic imho is that MS has totally abandoned sw sales revenue in favor of Game Pass growth. They sacrificed nearly all of their 1P sw revenue for it on Xbox/PC. All the contrary arguments presume MS cares at least a comparable amount about sw revenue and GP sub growth but the messaging and moves from MS just do not back that up at all.

They want a hardware model akin to mobile phones, a sw model akin to an industry leading mega publisher, and a distribution model akin to Netflix.

One more important point: Game Pass will look and feel VERY different by year’s end as all those games are available for xCloud and as xCloud gets server updates and is more integrated into XSX/XSS/PC. You will see options to play any game on the spot via streaming as it DL’s in background instead of waiting for it to DL first. That all by itself will radically change how we think about what Game Pass is. It will genuinely feel like Netflix for Games by year’s end. There is also a high probability that the entire games store has a ‘demo’ feature where you can stream the first hour of any game on the spot for free too.

If the games aren’t exclusive wonder what the reaction would be like lol
