It was a very weird situation, but it still would have benefited Xbox, or at least that was the intent. People would sooner be going for GPU than buying only Gold. Still a pro Xbox move, making a decision that won’t benefit GP in any way though…because that’s what this would mean.
Lol, on today’s Kinda Funny Games Daily, Keza McDonald predicted that Bethesda games will remain multiplatform because if not, “it will make people mad”
Sorry, why is it incumbent on Xbox to not make the best decision for their business, but to do the thing that will keep Sony fans from getting mad?
I don’t see much pressure on Sony to avoid releasing exclusive games because Xbox fans might get mad.
It just blows me away that even a veteran journalist like her cannot process the reality that Xbox might have something that PlayStation doesn’t. Like that situation just CANNOT be acknowledged as a possibility.
I wouldn’t use such words but dam…
KF takes should mostly be disregarded; the shows are 95% hot air to give bored video game fans white noise. It’s the only games podcast where I realize how I’m only interested because I’m bored during quarantine.
Do you have the article? For the Bethesda thing?
“it will make people mad”, I’m not exaggerating when I say that reading that literally make my stomach a little queasy at how inane it is. It seems like performance theater. I can’ t lie, if someone said that to me in person, there would be a few choice expletives sent their way questioning the mental faculties.
Haha same played some Yakuza Kiwami
One of the reasons we started XboxEra was to try and create an informed platform about Xbox. There really isn’t that much good journalism or opinion or whatever involving Xbox. Jez and Rand are probably the most notable and they do a great job but it’s a bit slim from there. Most other opinion involving Xbox is viewed from the lense of someone who doesn’t like Xbox or frankly isn’t informed. I don’t think this is necessarily the fault of any one individual but the fact that a lot of games journalist grew up not caring about the platform or are clearly biased towards Sony or Nintendo. Again, not bad, there’s just a big gap in knowledge for one of the biggest platforms.

I generally like KF and find them entertaining. I just need to remember that it’s essentially a PlayStation channel except for the Xcast. Most of the hosts are PS fans and don’t have much knowledge or interest in Xbox.
the 5% guy deleted his tweet. guess if got too hot for him lol.
My man Gary Whitta and the rest of the X cast rock.
I like KF in general tbh, I don’t get why people give them a hard time here. There’s an eyebrow raising take here and there, but there is bound to be when there is a new podcast every single day.
I would listen to Gary Whitta read the phonebook, what a cool cat.
Greg and Tim I usually enjoy.
Blessing seems cool but damn is the dude 15 or something? He’s helpless talking about anything prior to PS4.
MrMattyPlays has a new video and it’s clear that he doesn’t know more than us but his final call is that Xbox will make all brand new IP exclusive, and the stuff that’s already in production they’ll allow that on Playstation.
But then he goes that he personally expects them to lock the shit down. Said that Xbox has a major PR problem, where at times they say they want to fuel their ecosystem and other times “we want everyone to play the games.”
That last bit is false however and I don’t understand why it keeps getting thrown out there. Phil clearly meant games in their ecosystem. I don’t recall them ever having said everyone should be able to play these games. Everyone in their ecosystem yes, which happens to cover many bases.
Hey everyone, I follow along and read all these threads, but figured I would chime in. So honestly, before today, I was 99% certain that they were leaning toward exclusive, but all day reading Twitter it seems like all the Xbox “insiders” like Jez, Parris, Rand, Colt, etc. have seemed to back off their nonstop talk about it being exclusive. Maybe it means nothing, but it seems to have deflated my hype a bit.
Now at the end of the day, it doesn’t seem like that would negatively effect us since we all probably have game pass and getting to play them “free” should be good enough, but I honestly feel like if they don’t start playing hardball and make a bunch of these games multiplat then PS5 will just continue to gain market share and then we will begin to see a nonstop barrage of exclusive or timed exclusive games on PS5.
Don’t seems to be going for the jugular already this early in the gen, trying to lock up Starfield as a timed exclusive and then if they were to get it day one for free it would honestly be kind of a bummer because then all that money they saved on that Starfield deal will just go to further lock us Xbox gamers out.
Sorry for the long rant, but I truly feel like if they don’t make a firm stance that Bethesda = exclusive they won’t gain market share this gem and we’re all going to suffer because of it when it comes to games outside of the 23 studios.
L O L. My phone always tries to autocorrect Sony as “Don’t”. Samsung are secretly huge Xbox fanboys.
See I have 2 toddlers crawling on me and that’s why I don’t usually post and that’s what I get for not having proper punctuation or proof reading lol
There is a lot of misunderstanding about Xbox’s longterm strategy.
Also I wonder…
Why exactly did Tom choose to cover the old interview by that CFO from last year today? Why do that at all, and also (unintentionally I expect) mislead folks that way?
Yeah, I’ve noticed the lack of enthusiastic tweets, gifs and images too. But like you said, maybe it doesn’t mean anything. Jez apparently still sticks with his stance. It seemed at first that most of them really were in the know about this, but maybe after all they aren’t. Maybe just like with the Bethesda acquisition plans only MS and Bethesda knew.
As long as Bethesda and Xbox continue to give me my rpg fix I don’t care what they do. I trust them.
