Replaying AC Odyssey for the 6th time (different platforms). This time with achievements hunt
Also playing PoP and I am floored by the overall high quality of the game, amazing stuff from Montpellier.
Besides PoP I am at the Holy Detonation expansion of Wasteland 3 which is awesome so far, great writing and characters as always but besides that the combat is being refreshed as well with some new mechanics/combat scenarios which pushes the strategic aspect and the overall challenge even further. I never expected to like Wasteland 3 as much as I do…this game is so fuckin’ good.
Completed Plague Tale Requiem. The first game surprised me with with how weird the story got and how far the devs were able to push gameplay mechanics forward to their full potential without lingering on them for too long. Somehow Asobo did all of that again in Requiem. I didn’t think the wackiness of this story could be topped after the rat-based death match against the Pope, but here we are.
I’ve been working my way very slowly through two games, and now I have completed both of them today.
Ori and The Will of the Wisps - The platforming is nothing short of exceptional (love the escape sequences), but I really dislike the tone of the Ori games and how the games slow down the action too often to deliver its’ overly sentimental story. People complain about the slow walk and talk sections in Gears or some of Sony’s games. Ori is a bit guilty of this too.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - The entire game, including the awesome ending, does so much in terms of gameplay and set-pieces that you just don’t see in any other open world game (on Switch hardware no less). I thought the game couldn’t surprise/impress me anymore with gameplay set-pieces, but then I got to the Gannon dragon boss fight.
I would call this the most impressive open world game ever made if it didn’t reuse the map from BOTW. Idk maybe it still is despite this caveat. I can’t think of another open world game that does all or most of the things ToTK does.
Elden Ring but its not that simple lol Played the game nonstop on release, ran out of steam in the snowy area of the game. took a break for a month and started a new run. with str/fth build. made it to Haligtree and Farum Azula but again got burned out by the size of the game and the goddamn snow areas. Quit it in February 2023 but i bothered me constantly that i did not finish it so in December i swore to finish it in the new year.
First week of february i started playing again and finally cleared both endgame areas of all bosses + the 3 in ashen capital, all solo. Did a bunch of preparations for the DLC like upgrading a bunch of weapons Like Envoys Long Horn,Malikeths Black Blade,Blasphamous Blade and Sacred Relic sword plus buying soo many Radahn Spears that i will never how to buy them again.
Also next day started the next run with dex/arc build, im currently finishing up liurnia of the lakes .
Also im still playing GTA Online pretty much daily for a few hours.
Also i finished AC odyssey but is till have 2/3 of the atlantis dlc left plus korfu island. im already over 200h so i dont know when i get it to.maybe never.
I’m currently playing Yakuza 5. I’ve also made a promise to myself that I’m going to power through and get to Infinite Wealth as quick as possible. I haven’t really been engaging with the side quests much anyway. I purchased Infinite Wealth today and deleted a bunch of distractions from my Xbox (mainly Rocket League). So I’m going to try and finish 5, 6 and Gaiden in the next 3 weeks .
I’ve been playing “Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman” for the last few days… on Google Play Pass… natively on a smart TV… and I love it. Really wasn’t expecting much, but I’m quite enjoying it. It’s a fairly simple hack-and-slash/RPG-lite kinda game. But really well done.
I feel like I’m getting a peek into the future, too. In a few years we simply won’t need extra “consoles” anymore. With or without cloud gaming. I can see what Xbox is trying to do with their (rumoured) strategy.
Finishing it. King Darius was a phenomenal boss fight.
Just finished the Princess League in Yakuza 5, about to out an end to Chapter 4 I with Haruka and Akiyama.
I’m finding that no matter how much I want to rush sometimes, I can’t bring myself to skip any substories that I actually start. So this playthrough has hit 62 hours with no plans of getting all achievements.
Been playing Hellblade to reevaluate my complicated stance with that game and set my expectations for Hellblade 2. I’m finding that I enjoyed it more than my first playthrough in 2018. Senua’s character model and animation is honestly still mind-blowing and on par and better than some current games, some sides of the production still look and sound great but it’s apparent the budget constraints in some areas now. The fighting is weird, the animations and moves look and hit great, but the encounters grow repetitive very soon. The perspective puzzles are fine, but feel like gameplay extenders.
The game’s central themes and message hit me now more than before. I don’t think I was even that aware of mental illness back then so much flew over my head. The Hela sequence and the end shook me, one of the best representations of fighting inner battles I’ve seen. The ending credits song is also now my vibe “The world is just illusion, trying to change you”.
Me running around Sotenbori.
I’m like
Time for Shinada.
Do we have a travel thread ? Or will i have to say ‘goodbye’ to this forum ?
Taking the piss you gronks !
Finished it (GOTY contender for sure) and started Lies of P.
The game looks phenomenal and recreates the Soulsborne flavour quite well.
Just finished Silent Hill: The Short Message.
Not entirely sure how I feel about this one yet.
Pros:
- Solid atmosphere and sound effects (for what it is at least)
- The first couple chase sequences felt absolutely terrifying once things ramp up
- They tried doing some interesting things with some very dark, sensitive material. It doesn’t always work, but there were definitely moments that felt horrific in a way I could appreciate from a darker piece of entertainment.
Cons:
- That last chase sequence is absolute crap. That monstrosity kept randomly respawning in spots that would make me backtrack a minute or two every time. Got to the point where I used a video guide to get where I needed to be for that sequence.
- As mentioned in the pros, they do cover some really sensitive subjects in this game. I’m not sure if I’d say they weren’t always done well, but they take some paths that make you kind of feel conflicted about the way things go… At least imo
This is my first Silent Hill experience (well, aside from seeing the second movie in theaters back in High School… makes me feel old), so I figured I was going to be jumping into a dark, psychological experience. While I’m mixed on this title (I’d say its average overall), but I will absolutely give more games in the series a shot. Just wish the 360 HD collection was so infamously terrible… might still give it a shot though to at least try SH2.
Completed the DLC for Sable. Its about fishing, which is not bad in itself. But as you recall the base game already had severe performance issues. Its now even worse in the mini game where often button presses don’t even register. Absolutely useless. I only finished it for the achievements.
It was free and i still feel ripped off.
Finished my last run with AC Odyssey, I am now into a mix of FFVIII , IX and VII remake (yes on the dark side )
Just finished Valhalla base game and mastery challenges.
It’s way too big and I really dislike how they present the story. Fells kinda weird having your insane brother running around the town while you clearing regions.
And for the mastery challenges I have to say they are actually good. One of those cases of get good.
I absolutely hated the mastery challenges. But you remind me that I’ve got a dlc to finish.
Playing KOTOR 2 via backwards compatibility, and also replaying Rise of the Tomb Raider because the Indy trailer got me in the mood for it. Man, both KOTOR games are just incredible.
