I played Dead Space at launch and didn’t have any technical issues and I never played the original so I can’t say if it’s exactly the same as the original but for RE 4, I did play the original and I prefer it over the remake, one major part of the original with the statue is non-existent in the remake. They also cut the monster in the cage. So while it’s graphically better, too many things were changed or eliminated that shouldn’t have been. The statue part back on Gamecube/PlayStation 2 was a “holy shit” moment in gaming back then and Capcom eliminated it despite having far superior tech. Obviously, to each their own but REmake4 was disappointing for me. Still a great game but Dead Space wowed me more.

This is not a complaint !

Starfield as always, been running into a lot of random encounters. Severel involving alien smuggling and how most of them went bad: alien produces spores, something during transport happens that causes the containment to fail or supposively(can’t say either way, as no cages, so likely eggs) aliens got in there ship(this is something that can happen to us, as someone on reddit posted a video of them getting up from the pilot seat to see a big alien trying to squeeze into the cockpit).

Started with Jusant, got stuck on an area with a windmill and crawling rocks, I see where I need to go. But not sure how to get there, likely will have to see a guide on that.

Going through Yakuza 0, with Majima I have too much money and nothing to spend it(Mr Shakedown bullying, they’re currently carrying 1 billion yen everytime I see them with Majima) on because the slimegun is broken. With Kiryu, I have a good amount of money and not enough to fully upgrade all my skills.

Enjoying my experience with the game, even if I suck with the mini games, in my head I think I have the timing down but my thumb keeps pressing the wrong buttons. The only one I can say I’m doing good on is the UFO catcher, for obvious reasons.

Also playing Persona 5 Táctica, but that’s going slow so far. I need to get Yusuke and Makoto back on the team and get Haru and Ryuji ready to use.

This is me at the end of Metro 2033 right now (yes I’m bad with even light horror). I keep switching to other games because those ape things are stressful.

I bought Dead Space Remake 50% off recently. Looking forward to it since I never played the original.

Is there a way to switch camera view in Deadspace ?

Playing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

About 15 hours in. Playing on low damage received and high damage output yet it feels like the opposite at times. Playing on guided mode which isn’t guided at all as there’s no waypoints in the game. You basically start a quest, make it active then go to the quest log and click “show on map” and then make a custom waypoint so the waypoint appears on the compass which is 100% needed due to this and can’t be turned off unless you want to play without it.

This is my number one complaint and issue because it takes minutes finding NPC’s and whatnot because when you’re going through a multi-floor structure and the only hint is that the NPC is standing next to this or that, it becomes very annoying. What the point is in even having a guided mode when the game isn’t guiding me is beyond me.

Next complaint is the Navi senses. Yeah, I know they have this ability but the game is mostly built around this shit and “vision” is a game mechanic I literally despise in every game and I don’t care what game it is. While you can tag enemies after unlocking the skill, you can’t tag other stuff like you could in AC Origins/Odyssey when overlooking an outpost for example. It’s very annoying.

Next is that instead of icons on the world map, I can see Ubisoft is starting to copy Valhalla/Mirage by having all these stupid colored dots on the map. Sorry but icons are by far better because you know exactly what it is and looks better at least to me.

I also don’t like the UI, the inability to sell/dismantle weapons and gear or the fact that I can’t customize the HUD the way I want to. That stupid white glimmer that goes around the screen due to an enemy nearby (enemy proximity in AC Origins/Odyssey) can’t be removed at all nor can I remove those stupid enemy detection indicators. In a few ways, this game is a step back when it comes to HUD customization. AC Odyssey is the best from Ubisoft thus far IMO.

Next up is the Gear Score. It’s funny, Ubisoft went from levels in Origins and Odyssey to now let’s have a fucking gear score which is exactly the same shit but even worse. That quest is power level 7 and im 5 well, despite playing on “easy”, think again. I have to get better weapons and equipment or unlock skills to increase this bar. Shit reminds me of Ghost Recon Breakpoint which I dropped very quickly.

Now with all of that said, visually, best looking game of the generation surpassing Horizon Forbidden West even though that was very impressive for a cross-generation game. Voice acting is solid and the world is beautiful. Not a fan of the hacking stuff as it takes too long and if you get spotted, prepare to take a lot of damage and not a fan of gathering the food with a mini-game so all of this is turned off/automatic.

Combat/gameplay wise, it does feel real good to play, shoot, platforming, etc. The air combat is pretty cool shooting down helicopters while riding the Eikon which controls pretty well. I do wish I could just “hover” like I did the eagle in AC when scouting areas.

Story/characters is good thus far and im enjoying it as it’s pretty much all im doing. Like Valhalla and WD Legion, Avatar is pretty much a story quest only game as I will only do other stuff if I need to increase my power level to proceed.

Really wished that Avatar was like FC4/3 with no RPG mechanics. Just give me XP, skill points and a skill tree and call it a day. But whatever. It’s amazing how three years into this generation and that for me, Immortals Fenyx Rising is Ubisoft’s best game by far and this comes from a Ubisoft fanboy.

I’m about halfway through the story and plan is to wrap this game up this coming week and then start Tales of Arise. Will post my ratings when I roll credits.

P.S. - I’m very happy that I can play Avatar via Ubisoft+ for an $20 monthly rental because to pay $70, I wouldn’t have been a happy camper. Really wish more publishers would do a subscription service because even at $20 a month, it’s still cheaper than me buying the game for $70.

I completed Plague Tale Innocence in a couple days. Surprisingly good and very weird at the same time. The devs did a really great job expanding the mechanics further and further (and integrating them together) when all the game really was just stealthing, dealing with rats, and throwing rocks. Graphics were good, but you can tell it was AA because of the animations.

Great game. Be sure to play the sequel Requiem.

Completed Jade Empire. Went for the evil ending. KOTOR spoiler: Betraying your followers wasn’t nearly as interesting in JE as it was in KOTOR. Overall, pretty good game, but KOTOR and Mass Effect are much better Bioware games.

Still playing Avatar. 8 main story quests left. And started Tales of Arise yesterday. 15+ hours into the game. On chapter 3 I guess it would be. Really good game. Wish there were waypoints in general instead of just the area the quest is located in and that I could turn off the damage numbers during combat. Overall, enjoying it thus far. Should have both games wrapped up before the month ends.

Not having much time to play this month. Sucks. Juggling Evil West and Judgment. Hoping to finish the first one before the year ends.

Forza Motorsport but I think I’m going to call it quits. I’m not having fun anymore and I’m barely two Tours in.

Completed Metro 2033. Loved the moral ambiguity of the ending and the mystery surrounding the Dark Ones. (Was it morally correct to nuke the Dark Ones for the survival of humanity? How should we feel about humans resorting back to nuclear firepower after they destroyed the world with nuclear annihilation? Perhaps the old humanity forfeited their right of survival, and the new humanity, the Dark Ones, are the rightful heirs to this new world. ) Exodus did not make me interested in the Metro novels, but 2033 absolutely sold me on them. Last Light is still in my backlog.

I’ve been playing a ton of The Finals. This game is exceptional, although it can be a little too fast for me personally and there are quite a few balancing issues (check the subreddit for a lot of interesting discussions on this). Too many shooters are afraid to take risks and have fun nowadays. For example, fun map design has taken a sharp nosedive imo with pretty much every FPS map consisting of three lanes. The Finals flies in the face of that and takes big swings. Hopefully, the devs can better balance the game without losing the fun factor. A game like this probably cannot be as well balanced as a Halo without losing its core-essence, so the devs shouldn’t strive for perfection. Just make Light viable and deal with the annoying stuff like Heavy shield spam.

Talking about balancing issues, I don’t personally like playing Light (I’m not “twitchy” enough of an FPS player for that class), but the class needs some buffs to improve its team-play viability. The best team-play mechanic Light has is the glitch grenade. To improve the Light’s role as the anti-gadget / EMP teammate:

(1) remove the need to unlock glitch grenades and make it the default loadout for new players,

(2) glitch grenades explode on impact and have a wide blast radius,

(3) glitch grenades instantly destroy gadgets instead of disabling them temporarily, and

(4) add a specialization focused on applying glitch/emp somehow (e.g., a glitch-firing gun or a glitch vest that disables - not destroys - nearby gadgets when activated).

Decided to put everything to the side to finish Yakuza 0 today! Great game, loved just about everything.

I suck at most(90%) of the mini games, and I was never able to catch that freaking turle(what gets to me the most is that a dream machine dropped 2 for Kiryu and discarded them because I didn’t think I would ever need them), checked out of the Cabaret mini game, finished the Realstate Royal mini game(what a freaking slog), defeated Mr Shakedown enough that money wasn’t an issue did as many side missions as I could bring myself to do.

The one thing I didn’t like was having the styles upgrades locked behind Real state and Cabaret, it just made me not care about upgrading for the most part(went with Kiryu’s upgrades because I love Beast style and it will be sad to see it go).

Completed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

  • Visuals - 10/10 (superb)
  • Audio - 8.5/10 (great)
  • Gameplay/Combat - 7.0/10 (good)
  • Story/Characters - 8.5/10 (great)
  • Overall - 8.5/10 (great)

Avatar is this generation’s best visual game through 2023 and simply looks amazing. Audio is really good from the music to the ambient sounds and voice acting is better than I was expecting. Story and characters for the most part were great and kept me interested the entire way through. Combat and gameplay is where I was disappointed. Main issue was having to use the Navi senses for almost everything from finding certain plants to waypoints to objectives, etc. I have never been a fan of “senses/vision” in any game and it’s always an automatic negative for me.

Playing on Guided mode, you still have to use the sense to know where your main objective is and if you turn off the compass, no reason to waypoint it because you won’t see anything. It’s very aggravating. People complained about the icons but well, I prefer icons and waypoints. Not being able to sell weapons/items for anything is horrible. Any game that has vendors in it should allow you to sell or dismantle them for resources. Either way would be fine but neither exists. The HUD options are disappointing as I can’t take off enemy detection arrows or enemy proximity which is that white glimmer that circles the TV screen when an enemy is close.

Not only that but despite being a first person shooter, you can’t aim down sights which makes no sense. Your character is trained by humans and in cut scenes, you see the Navi aim down sights but you can’t do that in the game. Also, I played with enemy damage output on low and yet, the RDA human enemies (not mechs) can kill you in several shots to where it’s ridiculous. Flying is cool and air combat is solid while riding your flying creature (forgot what it’s called) but overall, it was the world, the atmosphere and the story/characters that won me over.

Despite it’s negatives, I do prefer it over Far Cry 6, AC Valhalla and WD Legion but Immortals Fenyx Rising is still Ubisoft’s best game this generation thus far. To end, I am very happy that Ubisoft+ is on Xbox because for an $18 monthly rental, I would say that Avatar is easily worth a play through but for $70 or more, all depends on how much you’re into Avatar and Ubisoft games. And by the way, instead of icons on the world map, it’s a bunch of different color dots like Valhalla which I hate. Give me back my icons!!! Anyway, enough said.

Still playing Tales of Arise base game. There’s 8 chapters including the prologue. I’m on chapter 4 and will continue it Sunday. Also started Resident Evil 4 - Separate Ways DLC. Played through four chapters today. It’s really good and im enjoying it more than I did the base game. And I want an Ada Wong lead protagonist RE game.

Best two features about Ada are the grappling hook which during one boss fight was really cool. And her ability to scan/see footprints and whatnot due to having a contact lens or something in her right eye. Best of all, while there’s a blue radar circle on the screen when investigating, there’s no actual vision or senses like in Avatar or Witcher or Horizon or countless other games that use that shitty ass game mechanic.

Looking to have Tales (base game and expansion) as well as Separate Ways wrapped up by New Years. I will then go all in with Startfield on my vacation which I can’t wait for.

Just finished Alan Wake 2 NG+. Without being too spoilery it’s a must play if you are going to do the DLCs as there are changes to the story in it and other stuff that looks to be set up for the DLCs.

Really well done NG+ definitely makes a second playthrough worth while.

Completed Dredge: The Pale Reach. Very short, but not bad. I don’t think it’s worth returning to Dredge for this DLC, but the DLC would be good to have on your first play-through. It basically just adds another island chain south of the other five island chains. The DLC feels like something that the devs had to cut out of the main game to deliver the game on time.

Started Yakuza: Like a Dragon as my big holiday game  Feels fitting so far. After catching up with seven Yakuza games over the past few years, I‘d otherwise be behind by 3 games again with a 4th one releasing soon, Can‘t let that happen :stuck_out_tongue:
