What are you currently playing?

i’m in the middle of Talos Principle II and in a very strong puzzle game year it still stands out. Outstanding job from Croteam :+

Obsessed with Dead by Daylight at the moment.

The Callisto Protocol on the Series X.

It’s a good game. The only negative so far is the performance can be a bit shaky at 60 fps (falling below VRR range) but it doesn’t detract from the experience.

What else can I say? My experience so far simply reiterates the fact I do not trust influencers, reviewers or any youtubers who have a self-proclaimed ‘expertise’ in survival horror & make absolutist declarations on games like Callisto Protocol like they’re some sort of experts on the genre.

No, it’s not a Dead Space ripoff (it has practically nothing in common in terms of its gameplay loop, except ‘perhaps’ the stomp & the device which pulls enemies & impales them on the wall). It’s a brawler, with a focus on melee, dodging & tactically apprehending enemies based on their type, attack patterns, number & their mutations. I haven’t suffered a single death which wasn’t my own fault. It’s not ‘unfair’.

It’s a slow paced, meaty, heavy brawler set in a science fiction horror setting. It looks incredible as well.

So yeah, so far after 4 hours or so, as a fan of the genre it’s a solid 8/10 for me. Just like The Evil Within 1 was a game I greatly enjoyed, i.e. which got demolished by ‘survival horror experts’ on youtube who seem to really hate survival horror for some reason. And special mention goes to the people who tried to play it like Dead Space (it’s not Dead Space), failed & then blamed the game or something because they weren’t good at it (probably playing on hard, which would be a mistake for a first playthrough).

I’m reminded of my experience with the Halo 5 single player, i.e. for all intents & purposes a great campaign which got crapped on by bandwagon jumpers & people who didn’t know what they were talking about (or just didn’t like Halo).

Slowly working my way through Zelda ToTK, Metro 2033 and Jade Empire.

Just finished Yakuza Gaiden, and while I don’t have a huge connection to the characters as I still need to play the rest of the series. That ending hit hard, loved it and definitely will buy in the future.

Dead Space. it’s a fantastic remake but I can’t play more than an hour or so a day because of how stressful it is :worried: also I swear either they made it harder than the original

I agree its a really nice game it’s just very hard in places and some of the boss battles were too hard

I finally got my Apex Legends account merged nearly a month after Respawn announced that cross progression was here. What a slow and poorly communicated rollout.

I haven’t played in a year or two. There’s been a lot of changes. The firing range is actually great now. And the legends have been split up into classes which is cool.

Overall the game feels amazing and it’s great to be back.

I playing what I believe will now be my GOTY. I picked up Under The Waves via a black Friday deal and I’m completely taken aback by how wonderful the game is constructed its pacing and how stunning the art direction and world looks.

What a game and a total surprise

Starfield of course, I’m not sure when I will stop playing this game if ever.

Yakuza Zero, currently on chapter 3 running around doing the side quest I can find with Majima.

Doing Vampire Survivors run with Imelda Balpease on Mobile and trying to get back to it on console. After a bit of time playing I have gotten to the point that Imelda has so many upgrades that even pushing the games difficulty to max I can(gold ring, Skull o’maniac, Inverse, all difficulty upgrades from power up section, Metaglio Right, Torrona’s Box), she can kill everything except the reaper with only her wand. I think as part of the whole making things harder I will disable limit breaker and the 1200 eggs power up(I did thus before, and without them and no Arcana at max starting difficulty it’s nearly impossible for me).

This is the one ive been meaning to get to.

Whilst i remember, its never mentioned but has anyone played Pinball M ? Its so good,a complete blast. Its pretty as also !

Completed two games in the last several days.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III campaign. Good 7.0/10 overall game. 14 missions. I enjoyed 11 of them but preferred the linear missions more than the open area missions. It’s definitely not less than a 7 in my opinion. Just your standard usual COD campaign for the most part. Enjoyed the story/characters the most even though it does feel like it’s “sped up” meaning a faster pace/rate than normal.

Immortals of Aveum.

  • Visuals - 9.0/10 (excellent)
  • Audio - 7.0/10 (good)
  • Gameplay/Combat - 9.0/10 (excellent)
  • Story/Characters - 7.0/10 (good)
  • Overall - 8.0/10 (great)

Really enjoyed Aveum for the most part. Story isn’t bad but the writing and script leaves a lot to be desired at times. Combat/gameplay is really good. Feels and plays great. Wish it was a little faster though in regards to your character but otherwise, it’s excellent. EA giving me three games this year. Jedi Survivor (9.0/10), Dead Space (9.0/10) and Aveum (8.0/10). If they nail the Marvel games they’re working on as well as Dragon Age and Mass Effect, they could be top 5 for me this generation.

Next up starting Thursday via Ubisoft+ will be Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Finished Dead Space. Incredible remake, almost perfect but very few criticisms:

  • For such an amazing sound design, one if the best in the industry, weirdly the dialogue sound mixing was all over the place, several dialogues were unintelligible without the subtitles

  • This might be a skill issue I dunno but the final boss was bs, I had to get the game to easy to beat it, its moves did not seem readable to me and kept slamming me and killing me multiple tries.

But that’s about it, otherwise this is close to a 10.

Playing Rollerdrome as well, it’s great arcade that will be in quick resume for a while. You can finish levels in like 5-10 minutes and replay to get better scores. “PERFECT GAME PASS GAME” if you will

Give it a go I was so glad I did. It is a shame its not on a Game Pass. Xbox are usually so good at picking games like this up for Game Pass

The dynamic system they have called “Intensity Director” is brilliant, almost feels like the game reads your mind and decides relative to your different states when to introduce enemies, change the lighting and play sounds that have you stressed enemies would come at you any moment, it will have you always on edge but never unfairly.

Its insane, i dont know if this is good for me !

I haven’t read about the intensity director, it has been years since i contemplated Deadspace.

In my opinion, Dead Space remake > Resident Evil 4 remake.

I respectfully disagree. DS Remake has some technical hiccups and the game is pretty much the exact same as the original. RE4 Remake remixes a lot of encounters and is a very neatly paced game.
