VGC: Konami set to revive Metal Gear, Castlevania and Silent Hill

Sony seriously isn’t playing around with the exclusives if this is true, it feels like they are trying to bury Xbox. It’s smart businesses by them but this is starting to make me nervous about what else they have

Is it really that shocking? The two have worked together for quite a while now, PT was a PS only thing and Silent Hills was going to be as well.

Bury Xbox? Good luck Sony I say when Xbox has IP like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Doom exclusive.

Sony is funding the project, konmai will improve it’s image and got revenue from sales despite not paying much into development as for KojjPro he got to work on IP he familiar with and still have desire to finish his 2015 PT Vision plus it’s good decision business wise they know there would be hype for it

Sony tries to go for the Jugular with every move they make .

Market leader would always try the best to stay at top, no one likes losing revenue

I don’t think they can bury Xbox anymore because of those IP, but they definitely were trying to when they were negotiating for starfield pre Bethesda purchase. I’m more just nervous stuff like this is going to make it a lot harder for Xbox to get to where the 360 was at

no one going to bury xbox unless it’s MS, to this day xbox is WRPG platform/box, people will feel the impact when starfield and elder scroll get released

After this I don’t think we’ll get an announcement anytime soon. Grubb made it clear earlier this year that it wasn’t even about a game yet, it was about cloud. So this thing for Xbox sounds very early. Don’t think Xbox was ever in the position to “do” something about SH coming to PS5.

going straight to IP holder ? although i could see problem making this move, most partner games got revenue from game sales, putting the game on GP will hurt it’s game sales. MS will have to pay upfront money for GP Deal. could be in hundred millions for IP not theirs.

or MS is not interested in SH at all lol

Silent Hill is an extremely niche game so an exclusive Silent Hill game would end up being about as relevant as Shenmue being announced on the Playstation stage.

The only difference that Kojima’s name would be on it and that makes it a bigger thing. But you’re right, SH isn’t exactly big anymore. Guess it could become big again though.

Hopefully Grubb can tell us some more soon about where this leaves Xbox, because Kojipro isn’t a very big studio, can only do so much. Unless SH is a 2022 release, then work on a Xbox project could begin soon I guess.

All these rumors and hearsay, be good to finally have something official about Xbox , but I’m guessing it will be a while.

if it’s PT game then i will guarantee you it would be hyped to oblivion

While I don’t doubt Grubb when it comes to Xbox stuff it is interesting that he’s the only one that is reporting the Xbox/Kojima stuff. With news like that (whether they like it or not) you would have thoght that other journos would be rushing to confirm and try find out whether there is any truth to those rumours.

I know all we have is rumours but i must admit i was hoping if Kojima was working with Xbox his game was going to be a horror one. Obviously that may still be the case but it would be surprising if he was working on two horror games, even if one does lean more into the cloud side of things.

I think the craziest outcome would be if Kojima was working with Microsoft on an episodic cloud based Silent Hill game

And sell like 4 million copies

Journous are PS fanboys for the most part, so they don’t even try to dig about this kind of news. It’s that simple.

I agree with you on that, I really want that Xbox game to be horror too.

nah it will sell more than Death Stranding, not many AAA horror games on the market. i mean outside of RE do we have other known horror AAA game on the market ? we have a remake of DS 1 coming but that it

I believe that if those Konami’s games are any good, Sony will have some form of exclusivity on them. All of them. MS is certainly not interested in third party IPs they don’t own - though they have do weird decisions stating the opposite or whatever - so the only chance could be MS going after Konami IPs for purchase but alas it seems like it won’t happen. The only option for MS is to buy publishers to secure IPs, hope they will get another one with the collection of hyped IPs.

Also I see no reason to downplay SH, considering each and every time it is trending on Twitter and media reporting the stories left and right. It is gonna be hyped to the oblivion whether you believe it or not.

Anecdotally, MS tend to do opposite. As soon as they become the market leader they grow complacent. Sony learnt hard way in PS3 era so they don’t want to repeat the same mistake.

If not for ugly monstrosity which is PS5, this gen for Playstation could be the best one for them regarding games, IPs, hype and rumors.

I find it impossible to be excited for anything from Konami. Experience suggests they are going to go with the cheapest developer, underfund the game, and it’ll be a turd designed to scoop up some cash through nostalgia.

Just sad how little they care about gaming given the force they used to be.

If anything is funded directly by Konami, then it will certainly be underfunded game.
