I like the reaction of that dude when she I think kicked the chicken?
As someone that wasnât really hyped about the Fable revival like a lot of folks, after watching that trailer Iâm definitely looking forward to it now. Brilliant way to kick off the show, no messing or teasing just straight into Fable which is probably the most anticipated game alongside Starfield for a lot of Xbox fans.
Probably helps that Iâm from the UK but i loved the humour in the trailer - of course theyâll no doubt be more serious and sombre moments in the game. The graphics were absolutely amazing. Iâve got no doubt Playground will come up with something brilliant. I would love it if it could sneak out next year but the fact there was no year/date at the end maybe hints at 2025 perhaps. Watching the Youtube trailer i noticed there was no âPlay on Gamepassâ at the end which Clockwork and Avowed both had for example.
My friend is a huge Fable fan to the point sheâs just got herself a Fable tattoo! So as a long term fan iâm curious what she made of the Fable trailer.
My post is a literal response to just about everyone whoâs telling us âwhat Fable isâ⌠when theyâre wrong (the focus on British humor is head scratching because it was never ever the primary selling point).
So⌠no need to be so defensive just because I have huge question marks over what we were shown.
If yes⌠Then as a Horizon 5 fan, I am gonna go nuts when they show HORIOZN 6
Edit: Is giants a thing in Fable games? I was completely lost by that in the trailer
Peter Molyneux would disagree with you, and he did in an interview last year. He said that new iterations of old games should not just be ccâs of the old ones but evolve them and move them forward.
His wishes for Playgrounds version of fable was that it retained the freedom in the world, of the player to play their character in any way they like and yes for it to retain the sense of humour of the original games.
I think itâs a bit of a reach to jump to the conclusion that all of the freedom is gone based on that trailer. If you compare it to E3 trailers for Fable 3 they are pretty similar. If you want to understand the game mechanics and systems youâll have to wait for the extended gameplay stuff for Fable in 2024 or when ever.
Iâm hoping they have a likeable character here. Itâs way too early to tell because weâve barely heard her speak and what not.
But people probably should not expect a character creation here, sheâs the protagonist. Doubt they will have a male.
Could be like Cyberpunk, weâre FemV is the one they always show off.
I wouldnt use the trailer and the use of only one character throughout as any indication as to whether the game has character creation.
Come to think of it, the originals didnt have a straightforward character creation either, 2 and 3 allowed you to pick your gender and throughout the game you could change your hairstyles, clothes and tattoos via vendors or collectibles. Would be cool if we got a similar selection here. All body shape apperances were determined by leveling up strength or eating pies. Again, playground could be going down a different angle, although id love them to bring back the old system
Id imagine at least you could pick between a male and female character, or body type a or type b, and honestly would be disappointed if we were set with one preset character for the game.
One thing for sure, i really cant wait for devs to further discuss the systems in the game and explain what character creation would be like
Not to my knowledge. Theres been dragons, haunted masks, hollow men zombies and werewolves. I thought it was cool. A giant would be neat. What makes it funny is a giant Richard Ayoade!
True!
I would not mind if they share info on this soon. Didnât we know about male and female V in Cyberpunk way before release?
So maybe wait & see? Theyâre likely hard at work on the gameplay systems you mention and itâs not as if itâs releasing imminently. This was a great showing in terms of showing good progress is being made and that they at least have a good handle of the Fable vibe we know & love.
I donât remember, but FemV is generally the go to for showing everything off about the game to the point that their V had custom sliders not available in the game for a long time.
I donât think itâs wise to jump to that conclusion this early on. Itâs Playground afterall, who do a great job of inclusivity in the Forza Horizon series, and Fable has history of having a male/female character since the 2nd game.
Thatâs true. But they could have shown what points to two protagonists. But you are right, itâs too early.
Realizing Peter Molyneux vision for Fable has nothing to do with hardware power.
Series X will not help me when i want a pony in rainbow colors
I am hyped for this game. Really enjoyed the first look and the humor.
Never been fan of previous fables but this looks appealing to me.
A lot of sad discourse on YouTube comments suggesting the game has gone woke because of the main character.
âWokeâ has been stripped of all itâs meaning by a âcertain groupâ and now is basically a catch all term for anything they dislike. Itâs really fucking annoying and is ruining discourse in videogames, comics, movies etc
Yeah, I donât get why every main character has to be great looking like Ellie from TLOU, similarly people were also mad that Bella Ramsey was cast to play the TV show. Itâs OK to have normal, flawed or ugly looking characters. It doesnât change anything about the game. What a weird thing to get mad about, IGNâs trailers esp. has more than 50% dislikes although the YT extension is not very accurate.
Just watched a video on youtube from a former environment artist of fable reacting to the trailer. She hasnât worked on the game in the recent past but her coments very much reitarte that itâs actually in-game.
She also referred to it as the âjack and the beanstock questâ.
Iâve seen people being worried about the game being all about the fairy taleâs so it might be calming to some that this seems to be just one quest in the game.
