What are you talking about? Sales are from retail and shipments. The servers ms build dont count towards sales. They do have an effect on manufscturing numbers sure but they dont count towards a sales total
Saw 2 Series X consoles at Walmart yesterday.
Sure you can take that position however what happens when PS5 needs cloud? If Sony is unwilling to make the same sacrifice because they donāt want to lose thier āleadā in sales then we will have an entire generation where Xbox has a smart TV app and PlayStation doesnāt.
Sony will start adding PS5 server blades at one point (or just PC if they port their other games there). But we wonāt know how many PS5 chips they will produce. Only the amount sold in retail.
I do wonder though if Microsoft will start reporting numbers differently with their Microsoft Gaming division. Or not.
Something that I havenāt seen discussed is the value of the different gaming markets and how that potentially impacts the distribution of consoles. How does the amount a US gamer spends compare to the average UK gamer (and so on by country)?
I donāt see Sony ever willing to sacrifice PS5 sales. The PS5 cloud will probably never happen. Xbox will have the smart tv market all to themselves.
Jimbo mentioned that they are planning to have games like Returnal, Demon Souls in their Spartacus service. Whether they will be available via PS Now or not, thatās a question though.
PS5 games have been kept off of PSNow. I assume Returnal and other PS5 games would be download only. I think PlayStation probably planned to have a lot of things until supply issues and the pandemic messed up thier plans. The question is how will PlayStation adjust? I just donāt think Sony leadership is willing to build the PS5 cloud during the shortage. This means years without a PS5 cloud, maybe the entire generation.
On the flip side I think Xbox already has deals with TV manufactures to roll out the Xbox Gamepass smart TV app. I think Xbox had planned to roll it out earlier but the supply issues didnāt deter Xbox from cloud, just caused a delay in its roll out. Xbox made the difficult decision of diverting guaranteed console sales in order to create the cloud. Expect a Samsung x Xbox partnership soon with other smart tv manufacturers to follow later.
This doesnāt really answer your question but jt made me think. The US generally seems to win on pricing when it comes to currency conversions for one thing. I canāt speak to specific figures but this increase to $70 hits hard in the UK, the old RRP might have been Ā£60 but the actual price most stores sold games was Ā£50. So increasing to Ā£70 (which is roughly $100) and actually holding at that price hits harder than it might otherwise given itās an effective increase of Ā£20 (roughly $30).
You also end up in an odd situation where a game like Miles Morales, which was a reduced price game due to being a smaller half sequel, came out here at Ā£50 - in direct competition to full sized games like Assassinās Creed Valhalla and every other game that came out that season also at Ā£50. Playstation is still the dominant brand here but Iād be surprised if it hasnāt shifted the way people spend money here.
Iām personally willing to spend Ā£70 on the right game, but with so many games in my backlog and still releasing at the cheaper price point I find myself pushing the Ā£70 titles down in my list of games to get, as itās not as if they provide Ā£20 more in gaming value compared to other games.
Doubt Sony ever take cloud seriously unless it actually starts to take off. The infrastructure needs are going to put them at a massive disadvantage. Not only will they likely need to put their own hardware into data centers, theyāre going to need to pay a truck load of money to run them. Cloud is a huge margin business but the barriers to entry are enormous due to cost
Could simply be part of the download only tier as you said.
We already know for sure it doesnāt support PS5 streaming at launch, so PS5 games are download only.
Guess it is gonna be part of the second tier? Or they will improve PS+ Collection?
Itās the second tier, their āGame Passā
Stop insulting Game Pass
I canāt figure it out
Is the conversation off topic in this thread or is the title is off the conversation
Every topic isnāt going to stay exactly on topic.
A piece of advice for the future No-HoloLens-Fan. Try bringing the topic back on track rather than simply pointing out that the topic is off. Also, you said it in a judgmental way. Try removing the judgment as well, this should be a fun place.
Seems series x and s are out of stock in most parts.
