The Initiative is working on Perfect Dark for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC

And it seems like she speaks with an English accent.

That was pretty awesome, the rumors were pretty much all wrong. It’s really time to,stop believing any insiders. They have been way off this gen.

Watching the trailer was a ride.

At first I was like oh its not Perfect Dark.

Then i saw the gun on the wall and went… isnt that the laptop gun?

And then the dataDyne logo i lost it.

I am so excited

Damn this was 3 hrs ago, that show went on way too long

Anyway, they state its in early development, so it wont be a 2021 title like some would speculate, but its nice to get confirmation of the games existance

Is Elvis gonna be back though?

Maybe. Tbh, I was never as big into the alien aspect as the Espionage/Corporate intrigue and the dichotomy between the Carrington Institute and Data Dyne but he was a fun character.

Soooo excited for this, I cannot wait to see more on the game. Now we won’t have to speculate what the game could be every week.

Soo hyped for this! Glad it’s a proper PD and not one just set in the universe like the rumours were suggesting.

I used to replay this level all the time just so I could listen to this song lol.

Glad to see this was finally announced. I’m looking at all of the insiders kinda sideways though.

I wanted to scrub The Initiative’s follows on Twitter to see if they were following any VAs, but they aren’t following any acoounts.

The original wasn’t exactly just a straight up shooter either. Well at least not compared to what was out at the time. I can think of at least one level that you went through in disguise roaming a secret base without shooting anyone for most of it. Not to mention missions with multiple objectives that could chang depending on difficulty. PD was so ahead of its time.

Bummed this is not third person, but we will see what Initiative can do. Another CG trailer that means you will not see this game (episodic or not) before 2022-2023

I love the following;

Stealth

Gadgets

Spy stuff

Guess what this game has all of those, I’m so keen. I’m new to the Perfect Dark series but I am in need of something like Deus Ex / Splinter cell type game and this seems like it will fit perfectly. I’m genuinely hyped for this I can’t wait. I feel like this could be a 2024 title or 2023.

This all sound great to me! :beers:

Screw it, I have a fan theory. Spoilers for the original Perfect Dark, and the episode “To Serve Man” from The Twilight Zone, and the original Prey from 2006. So, my theory is as follows:

In the original Perfect Dark, Data Dyne worked in partnership with a militaristic group known as the Skedar, supplying them with AI to uncover an ancient spaceship in return for alien technology and secrets. However, the Skedar can disguise themselves as human beings, particularly that of Mr. Blonde.

Now, Initiative’s Perfect Dark appears to be a reboot in a different chronology, with Data Dyne serving as a science corp al a Monsanto. My theory is that the Skedar have infiltrated Earth, taking advantage of our climate disaster to use their technology to fix the problem. Doing so leads to worldwide peace and prosperity, and some very healthy, rich and fattened livestock on which the Skedar can harvest and prey upon. This is similar to an episode of The Twilight Zone wherein the aliens known as Kannamits solve all of the world’s problems to keep the human livestock happy and feast upon them, and Humanhead’s Prey where a group of aliens return to Earth having created human life to harvest them for organic parts.

I think having the Skedar infiltrate a massive corporation and use it to further their own gains works as an enviro-thriller and is a plausible conspiracy for the game. Idk, or maybe just Data Dyne are like they are in PDZ, shady assholes. Thoughts?

I really, really, but really loved the trailer and concept of the game. Also i found really interesting that thing of eco sci-fi. And omg it’s fps, i’m glad they did not changed it to third person shooter. Now the question it’s when it might come out. But Microsoft and the initiative, don’t worry, take your time. I love you guys :smugdancing:

I think it will be a 2023/2024 title honestly, I feel as if this trailer was a recruiting video haha like wanna work on this really cool looking game come join us. This gives them something like 5-6 years, could even be a 2025 title but I don’t think any later than that.

He says “differentiate what we call spy fighting versus what you would see in a traditional first person shooter”

Hmmmmmm, I think it’s going to be third person or a mix like Deus Ex because he talks about sliding, jumping over things, etc. Also Spy Fighting tells me there’s melee combat which is always better in third person.

To me, watching that video, none of them ever confirm that it’s first person as they only compare it to first person but at the same time, sounds more like an example than anything else.
