The Initiative is partnering with Crystal Dynamics for Perfect Dark development

I said “2023 target”, then we all know delays happen. Anyway it’s clear the pre-production is over and they are starting the major effort.

@OneBadMutha We need an explainer article/video. We have come to expect very high quality well thought out videos from you on controversial topics.

So is Crystal Dynamics and all of the staff at The Initiative…

I mean you can expect PD in 2023 if you want, but realistically it’s going to be 4 years of hard dev from now

We have an internal release calendar from Grub, it had 2023. Their expectation to rely on outsourcing is not a new development.

The reality is, we don’t know how far in development the game is. We don’t know how much of CD is going to work on it. So you’re realistically isn’t based on much.

I trust Grubb in some things, but that schedule was ways off. No AAA game takes two years these days

The development of the game is not starting in 2021 though. Like Hellblade 2, they have spent years in pre production. The game mechanics and design are likely done and now the man power is coming in to flesh things out.

They say early in dev in the statement. Full dev, as in building the game, starts now, everything TI did I believe, was the general pre production, storyboarding, script, etc.

My guess is 2024. I don’t see this game coming before Avowed or Hellblade 2.

2024 is my guess as well .

Yeah, except the studio head’s daughter was playing a game 2 years ago. Phil was playing one 1 year ago. It is obviously more than storyboarding and script.

Hellblade 2 pre production included basically building out a large and detailed vertical slice of the game. It isn’t all paperwork like you suggest.

Hindle thinks every game takes 6 years of development minimum lol

They did more than that already. They had a playable prototype over a year ago.

Im sure you still think Fable didnt start development either until the 2020 trailer from E3 too Hindle.

Unpopular??? You mean Microsoft acquiring Crystal Dynamics? That’s not unpopular. That’s WANTED. lol. Especially if it comes with the Tomb Raider IP.

Respect to Fonz with one of best takes on this. Yes, he was one of the immediate “concerned” tweeters, but he pulls out of it nicely with a really mature and honest testemonial here

We need more of this sort of thing on social media

Like I said earlier I was a little shocked at some of the hot takes from the community as that just made them look so uninformed on certain things.

Respect to Fonzerrelli for this.

Sounds like many are realizing they shouldn’t have run to Twitter before thinking it through.

Rand’s thoughts about it on the Xbox Two today were really good. Rational and logical thinking. Worth a listen IMO.
