They know what this show actually is and that is a 3 hour advertisement. MS wanted to advertise the xbox and that was the place to do it. They’re just playing the game it’s simple as that.

I gotta say, the whole idea of fan voting is absolutely nonsensical. 99.9% of folks haven’t played all of the games nominated and can’t tell you which is better in which category.
It’s so obviously a popularity contest based on nominees from a console, AAA-centric, nearly clueless panel that doesn’t even know how to define genres.
And I have to reiterate that Halo got robbed. In a year were they provided the full version of Forge, added a ton of new modes and maps (more than most games), and added enemy AI… It seems laughably ridiculous to overlook the improvements to this game. It’s almost criminal.

That was the only tweet? No tweet with “some truly amazing games” or something similar? 
Geoff seems to have mellowed a bit from overhyping his stuff. (Although it still occasionally happens) I remember for a Summer Game Fest thing he was dropping hints about the THPS 1+2 remake before it was announced and framed it as “It’s not too big. Just a cool little thing.” Then it was announced and people went NUTS.

Maybe xbox is announcing a handheld at his show? We know new xbox hardware seems to bring him down.

Geoff gets some kicks because he was considered monotone announcing the X, and Phil admittwd he was displeased with how the stream muted the applause, but I honestly think Geoff was excited. It was just a more genuine, less animated type.
